Cyprus's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. 91 minutes into the match, Cyprus's goal looked a bit too open when Lakis Sarris came free, but Nessos Balouris reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 94 minutes, Zinon Chatziioannou managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Greece's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zinon Chatziioannou was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Stefanos Rigopoulos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nessos Balouris having to interfere. Chants of Cyprus echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Greece had held the ball for most of the match.
