Ricardo Fontana was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 45th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Vasco Abadia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Quin Aguila, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Uruguay made a substitution. Pablo Montero replaced Indartsu Magaz. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Vidal González made a kick off. 55 minutes into the match, Bolivia's goalkeeper Vasco Abadia had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Quin Aguila. A well-hit corner resulted in Enzo Martínez heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. In the 92nd minute, Uruguay's Ibar Codina dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-3. The supporters of Bolivia booed when Uruguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Enzo Martínez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Uruguay played a much better game than Bolivia and deserved their victory. The Bolivia players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
