When Ostoja Serdarević fell near the penalty area in the 3rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Croatia's protests and gave Ostoja Serdarević a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, U21 Croatia's Ostoja Serdarević got a free kick in the 3rd minute. When Hardy Karaeng came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the U21 Indonesia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hardy Karaeng couldn't finish the play. Egy Maulana received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Marcel Mateša tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thoyib Alatas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luka Mata, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marko Livaja kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. Thoyib Alatas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luka Mata, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. In the 17th minute, Roman Ardikusumah hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 18 minutes into the match, U21 Indonesia's goal looked a bit too open when Dalibor Kalmeta came free, but Thoyib Alatas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marko Livaja fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thoyib Alatas having to interfere. If Marko Livaja had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marcel Mateša made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hardy Karaeng in the 25th minute of play. Egy Maulana kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. Egy Maulana's late challenge caught a U21 Croatia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Egy Maulana helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to U21 Indonesia getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Egy Maulana hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Marko Livaja managed to get in a good position for a shot. U21 Croatia's supporters rose to their feet, but Marko Livaja was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Thoyib Alatas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 32 minutes into the match, Hardy Karaeng had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Marcel Mateša. Wawa Probosutedjo's late challenge caught a U21 Croatia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Wawa Probosutedjo helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, U21 Indonesia's Wawa Probosutedjo got a free kick in the 37th minute. John Terry took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 38th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Thoyib Alatas. U21 Indonesia's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After 41 minutes of play, U21 Croatia's Dalibor Kalmeta made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Thoyib Alatas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Marko Livaja to make the kick off. After 92 minutes, Luka Mata mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the U21 Croatia and the U21 Indonesia players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, U21 Croatia's Luka Mata got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Marcel Mateša made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Egy Maulana in the 94th minute of play.
