Spectators: 10301 (Terracing: 7726, Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Ximenez Gort started the match with the kick off. With a little luck, South Korea's 박 오 got control of the ball when Ximenez Gort tried to sneak it across the goal line. 14 minutes into the match, South Korea's goal looked a bit too open when Tercero Vital came free, but 박 오 reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ecuador's Abel Madaria quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Silver Honda, made in the 17th minute of the game. Ximenez Gort received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. 박 오 tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When South Korea's 김 지 in the 25th minute got a chance for a shot 25th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. Ecuador's Santiago Torres played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 김 지 in the 28th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Son Head Son in the 30th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Santiago Torres to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ximenez Gort got free with 박 오 in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 34 minutes into the match, South Korea's goal looked a bit too open when Ximenez Gort came free, but 박 오 reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Santiago Torres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from 김 지 in the 35th minute of play. South Korea's defense didn't have a chance, in the 39th minute, when Ximenez Gort scored to the left of an out of position 박 오, making the score, 1-0. The crowd rose to their feet as Ximenez Gort kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving 박 오. That made the score 2-0 in the 41 minute of play. In the 44th match minute, South Korea was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Magnús Kim to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Ecuador booed when South Korea was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hong Hightower didn't get a good kick on the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when 김 지 stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Kleber-Julio Julio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Kleber-Julio Julio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. 박 오 breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 박 오 showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ximenez Gort, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. In the 59th minute, one of South Korea:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for South Korea. South Korea's Victorino Vialli was substituted for Uran Friend. Ecuador made a substitution. Luís Fernando Cadena replaced Ximenez Gort. The supporters of Ecuador booed when South Korea was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Magnús Kim didn't get a good kick on the ball. South Korea's 박 오 played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Fernando Cadena in the 71st minute of play. Hong Hightower recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 75th minute, Luís Fernando Cadena ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. 박 오 was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. The supporters of South Korea booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Fernando Cadena didn't get a good kick on the ball. Santiago Torres came out of the goal in the 79th minute to try and stop a shot by South Korea's Victorino Vialli. But to his dismay, Victorino Vialli quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. 83 minutes into the match, Luís Fernando Cadena had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of 박 오. South Korea's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luís Fernando Cadena was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-1. Ecuador made a substitution. Xuaco Lopes replaced Urtsua Bernabeytia. With a little luck, Ecuador's Santiago Torres got control of the ball when Victorino Vialli tried to sneak it across the goal line. Santiago Torres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Victorino Vialli in the 96th minute of play. 박 오 came out of the goal in the 97th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Luís Fernando Cadena. But to his dismay, Luís Fernando Cadena quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-2.
