Arnold Szuper came out of the goal in the 14th minute to try and stop a shot by Romania's Lucrețiu Zăraşcu. But to his dismay, Lucrețiu Zăraşcu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 17 minutes in the game Florin Bobariu did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Lucrețiu Zăraşcu. Balázs Pál-Szabó struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Tiberiu Grindeanu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hungary. Tiberiu Grindeanu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tibor Nyilasi in the 20th minute. Denis Călin hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Tibor Nyilasi came free with the goalkeeper in the 32nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Tiberiu Grindeanu could save by the left post. The audience was convinced that Lucrețiu Zăraşcu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arnold Szuper was relentless in the 34th minute of the game. Romania's Tiberiu Grindeanu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to save Romania from getting a goal against them. Tiberiu Grindeanu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Balázs Pál-Szabó, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 44th minute of the game Jason Statham made a throw-in which Tibor Nyilasi played forward. In the 47th minute, Tibor Nyilasi ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tiberiu Grindeanu was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Lucrețiu Zăraşcu made the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute Romania were awarded a corner. Marian Cismarescu went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on Romania's corner Marian Cismarescu fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Arnold Szuper quite easily take care of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marian Cismarescu in the 57th minute of play forced Hungary's goalkeeper Arnold Szuper to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arnold Szuper made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lucrețiu Zăraşcu in the 68th minute of play. 72 minutes into the match, Romania's Lucrețiu Zăraşcu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Arnold Szuper narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Álmos Koós charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Álmos Koós the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Hungary getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Álmos Koós hit a great ball. Romania's Cristi Mirea was substituted for Calistrat Andreescu. Hungary made a substitution. Mikhail Bakunin replaced Tibor Nyilasi. Romania's Dušan Vlahović was substituted for Lucrețiu Zăraşcu. Hungary's Sándor Toldi was substituted for Tamás Csank. Romania's Tiberiu Grindeanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Szilárd Újváry in the 78th minute of play. After some careless play in the Hungary defense, Dušan Vlahović kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Arnold Szuper. The Hungary fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Arnold Szuper should have stopped the shot. If Mikhail Bakunin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dušan Vlahović succeeded in the game's 89th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-3. A collision led to Romania getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Cristi Mirea hit a great ball. In the 93rdth minute of the game Mikhail Bakunin who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Romania's Tiberiu Grindeanu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Mikhail Bakunin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 97th minute Cristi Mirea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnold Szuper saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Romania supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Romania would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
