Hivzo Papaz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 37 minutes, Hivzo Papaz made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. USA's Omar Witt tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Omar Witt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Asmir Ivešić in the 45th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

In the 82nd match minute, Bosnia And Hercegovina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Firduz Hodžić to maneuver through the defense. USA's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
