In the 20th minute Björgólfur Rúnarsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dwight Eversley Bissambhar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dwight Eversley Bissambhar made an important save on a dangerous shot by Björgólfur Rúnarsson in the 23rd minute. 24 minutes into the match, Iceland's goal looked a bit too open when Dansam Gift came free, but Sigurvin Gretarsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 45th match minute, Iceland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marbjörn Garpsson to maneuver through the defense. After the first half Trinidad & Tobago were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Kristleifur Sveinbjörnsson kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. Dwight Eversley Bissambhar had in the 56thth minute some difficulties stopping Hjálmar Barðason's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball.
