If Stijn Boswijk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. U21 Honduras's Giovani Prado proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save U21 Honduras from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Honduras's zone, Stijn Boswijk stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Giovani Prado came out of the goal and Stijn Boswijk tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Terry Terry showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Orlando Ruiz, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. After 47 played minutes U21 Honduras got a freekick which was hit by Humberto Verdugo. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hette Hoffhuis made a kick off. When the match had gone on for 52 minutes, Stijn Boswijk put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Giovani Prado. Wilfried Langenbach went to the cornerflag to take it. U21 Netherlands's Stijn Boswijk got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. U21 Honduras's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
