Christian Paz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Doyle Vaca, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Vasco Abadia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mariano Vinosis in the 15th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfonso Abeijon in the 16th minute of play forced Guatemala's goalkeeper Christian Paz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 18 minutes into the match, Bolivia's Doyle Vaca sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Christian Paz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to Bolivia getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Alfonso Abeijon hit a great ball. In the 20th minute Doyle Vaca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Christian Paz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Guatemala defense, Doyle Vaca kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Christian Paz. The Guatemala fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Christian Paz should have stopped the shot. With a little luck, Guatemala's Christian Paz got control of the ball when Doyle Vaca tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience was convinced that Doyle Vaca's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Christian Paz was relentless in the 28th minute of the game. After 30 minutes Bolivia's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Eliseo Montes who took care of the corner kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Doyle Vaca in the 33rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Christian Paz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Bolivia's Vasco Abadia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mariano Vinosis in the 35th minute of play. Christian Paz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Doyle Vaca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Bolivia defense, Allan Murgas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vasco Abadia. The Bolivia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vasco Abadia should have stopped the shot. After 45 played minutes Guatemala got a freekick which was hit by Misael Aguirrez.

The wind increased when Diego Cabrera made the kick off in the second half. With an all-out effort, Guatemala's Vasco Abadia threw himself towards the right post 54 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Allan Murgas, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Bolivia were awarded a corner in the 59th minute after Guatemala's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Rufo Abalos took the corner. Christian Paz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gelmiro Abella, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Christian Paz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfonso Abeijon in the 67th minute of play. Waldir Boianelli hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Guatemala's Richard Sosa was substituted for Eliseo Montes. In the 71st minute, Waldir Boianelli hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Christian Paz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diego Cabrera in the 71st minute of the match. Nelson Ochoa tried to clear up in front of the goal, but didn't succeed and rather the ball rolled into the own goal to the right of a despaired Christian Paz. An unnecessary self made goal, 2-1 in the 73rd minute. Bolivia made a substitution. Salvino Aballe replaced Rufo Abalos. After a rather tough play, Bolivia's Ricardo Fontana got a free kick in the 80th minute. Vasco Abadia made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nelson Ochoa in the 81st minute. Vasco Abadia was a little too slow when Richard Sosa got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 87th minute. The score was now 2-2. Christian Paz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diego Cabrera, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 90 minutes of play, Bolivia's Gelmiro Abella made it 3-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Christian Paz was left in no man's land by his defense there! With a little luck, Bolivia's Vasco Abadia got control of the ball when Waldir Boianelli tried to sneak it across the goal line. For all the effort they put into the match, the Guatemala players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Bolivia.
