In the 6th minute, Vlatko Tica got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 17th minute of the match Radoman Kaluđerović shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Berting Nakpawan showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Koča Pantić made an important save on a dangerous shot by Everett Quengua in the 18th minute. A nice corner shot did that Everett Quengua got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Koča Pantić quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 25th minute Jadranko Ćirović shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Berting Nakpawan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Koča Pantić took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marc Larsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Vlatko Tica had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.

Philippines made a substitution. Aureliano Guanlao replaced Clint Gosum. Mar Guiao might have been able to make a better finish in the 55th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Koča Pantić. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mar Guiao ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 55th minute Mar Guiao shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Koča Pantić saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Philippines's Chris Jacutin in the 61st minute got a chance for a shot 61st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Montenegro's goalie prevented a goal. The Philippines fans' excitement grew in the 67th match minute when Philippines's Chris Jacutin looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. When Philippines's Mar Guiao in the 72nd minute got a chance for a shot 72nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Montenegro's goalie prevented a goal. Veljo Kralj's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Berting Nakpawan read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 74th minute of play. Koča Pantić showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mar Guiao, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. With a little luck, Philippines's Berting Nakpawan got control of the ball when Husein Gaš tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 80th minute, Slobodan Nišavić ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Berting Nakpawan was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. After some careless play in the Montenegro defense, Chris Jacutin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Koča Pantić. The Montenegro fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Koča Pantić should have stopped the shot. Ernie Tongol hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. In the 93rd minute, Vlatko Tica got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Koča Pantić took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mar Guiao, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 96 minutes, Husein Gaš managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Montenegro's supporters crossed their fingers, but Husein Gaš was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Philippines had won after a very even match.
