To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Baraxil Sarrate made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mario Balotelli in the 26th minute of play. Torcuato Herrero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a rather tough play, U21 Spain's Francisco José Millán got a free kick in the 30th minute. In the 33rd minute, Constantino Casado hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 35th minute Mario Balotelli shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Baraxil Sarrate saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 高浩泉 stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Francisco José Millán's shot from short distance in the 39th minute. Baraxil Sarrate showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Xian J.J., who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Mario Balotelli made a kick off. U21 China made a substitution. 许银珂 replaced 程岩磊. Baraxil Sarrate made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Xian J.J. in the 66th minute of play. Xian J.J. could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 70th minute of the match, but Baraxil Sarrate made a huge save. 72 minutes into the match, U21 Spain's goalkeeper Baraxil Sarrate had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by 温景平. Francisco José Millán recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. U21 Spain's Constantino Armada was substituted for Amadeo Carbone. Gil Pais was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 77 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, U21 Spain's Gil Pais got a free kick in the 78th minute. Baraxil Sarrate showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from 温景平 in the 80th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francesc Tamari in the 86th minute of play forced U21 China's goalkeeper 高浩泉 to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Baraxil Sarrate stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of 温景平's shot from short distance in the 90th minute. A sloppy throw-in by Xantalen Arribas in the 91st minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by U21 China's 梅笑适. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched U21 China eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
