After some careless play in the U21 Greece defense, Silviu Latarețu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Giannis Kabosis. The U21 Greece fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Giannis Kabosis should have stopped the shot. Giannis Kabosis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silviu Latarețu in the 27th minute of play. Silviu Latarețu spun around in front of the goal 27 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of U21 Greece's goal. After having played for 29 minutes, Silviu Latarețu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Romania's supporters crossed their fingers, but Silviu Latarețu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 33 minutes into the match, U21 Romania's Silviu Latarețu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Giannis Kabosis narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Silviu Latarețu in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Giannis Kabosis saved U21 Greece from getting behind. After 35 minutes, Silviu Latarețu made it 1-3 with a short kick to the right side. U21 Greece's Giannis Kabosis tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alexandros Vranis to strike the kick off in the second half. 58 minutes had been played when some careless play by U21 Greece's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Bruce Van Damme was slow to take the kick. During this time U21 Romania's players had a chance to rest. After 59 minutes, Marcel Mavrodin mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the U21 Romania and the U21 Greece players grew even worse after the yellow card. Marcel Mavrodin kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Bruce Van Damme got in the 65th minute a good position and tried a long shot which to a great surprise passed a very astonished Giannis Kabosis. This was a shot which ended in a score of 1-4. Silviu Latarețu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Giannis Kabosis read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 73rd minute of play. After 74 played minutes U21 Greece got a freekick which was hit by Petros Fyssas. When the match clock showed 75 minutes, the score became 1-5 when Silviu Latarețu sped through U21 Greece's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Giannis Kabosis. In the 80th minute, U21 Greece's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Silviu Latarețu fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 83 minutes into the match, Silviu Latarețu dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Giannis Kabosis, 1-6. A collision led to U21 Greece getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Petros Fyssas hit a great ball. Silviu Latarețu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Silviu Latarețu struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Giannis Kabosis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Romania. Silviu Latarețus short, quick shot in the 90thth minute got Giannis Kabosis to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in.
