Remy Verheijt charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Remy Verheijt the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 24th match minute, U21 Belgium was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Remy Verheijt to maneuver through the defense. After 31 minutes of play, U21 Belgium's Laurend Owerckx made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Darryl Parker was left in no man's land by his defense there! 35 minutes into the game, Harald De Messemaeckre was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 Belgium's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Costa Rica the free kick. A collision led to U21 Belgium getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Harald De Messemaeckre hit a great ball. 43 minutes into the game, U21 Costa Rica's Ignacio Meckel nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marcus Van Hespen made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. In the 49th minute, Remy Verheijt sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and U21 Costa Rica's Darryl Parker didn't even have to move.

If Diego Tristan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Darryl Parker took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Richey Rymenans, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 58th minute, Clodomiro Campos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Darryl Parker showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diego Tristan in the 59th minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 60 minutes, Richey Rymenans took a quick shot and it went in 1-3 without a chance for Darryl Parker to make any attempt to save it. After a rather tough play, U21 Costa Rica's Clodomiro Campos got a free kick in the 68th minute. Darryl Parker showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diego Tristan in the 74th minute of the match. Darryl Parker was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Diego Tristan showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-4 in the 80 minute of play. Darryl Parker made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Richey Rymenans in the 83rd minute of play. Laurend Owerckx could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Darryl Parker made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Richey Rymenans in the 92nd minute of play forced U21 Costa Rica's goalkeeper Darryl Parker to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, U21 Costa Rica's Raul Heredia got a free kick in the 93rd minute. The U21 Costa Rica fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. U21 Belgium were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
