After 20 minutes of play, U21 Portugal's Manuel Melo made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Antti Hein was left in no man's land by his defense there! U21 Portugal's Gigi Buffon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anton Teller in the 35th minute of play. U21 Portugal's Paulus Maximus managed to work through U21 Estonia's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Paulus Maximus dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Antti Hein was out of position in the 48 minute of play, and Paulus Maximus capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Paulus Maximus really showed his touch with that goal: 2-1. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rene Vagula to make the kick off. Gigi Buffon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maarek Jaama in the 89th minute of the match.
