Ross Symon stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mark Mäe's shot from short distance in the 89th minute. With a little luck, Austria's Lütfi Özer got control of the ball when David McLergain tried to sneak it across the goal line. Austria were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Scotland to leave the ground with a draw.
