Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) Maik Peintner made the kick off and thus started the match. In the 8th minute Marinus Zandee shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lütfi Özer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 10 minutes of play, Austria's Hans Schertz made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jordi Peppinck was left in no man's land by his defense there! The crowd rose to their feet as Austria's Maik Peintner slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jordi Peppinck. That made the score 2-0 after 12 minutes of play. Jordi Peppinck showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maik Peintner in the 14th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Netherlands's Jan-Joost Adriaanse got a free kick in the 17th minute. Danny de Jaeger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lütfi Özer having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Danny de Jaeger in the 22nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lütfi Özer saved Austria from getting behind. Jordi Peppinck took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maik Peintner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maik Peintner in the 25th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Jordi Peppinck to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lütfi Özer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marinus Zandee, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 29 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goalkeeper Jordi Peppinck had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hans Schertz. Lütfi Özer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Danny de Jaeger in the 31st minute of play. 34 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Dustin Krammer came free, but Jordi Peppinck reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Austria booed when Netherlands was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Douwe de Groot didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 40th match minute, Netherlands was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Douwe de Groot to maneuver through the defense. Volli Baller struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Jordi Peppinck didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Austria. Netherlands's Jordi Peppinck proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 44th minute of the match, managed to save Netherlands from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hans Heuvel in the 46th minute of play forced Austria's goalkeeper Lütfi Özer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Hans Heuvel to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Austria's goalkeeper Lütfi Özer had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marinus Zandee. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hans Heuvel got free with Lütfi Özer in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Austria's Lütfi Özer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Danny de Jaeger in the 76th minute of play. With a little luck, Austria's Lütfi Özer got control of the ball when Hans Heuvel tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Danny de Jaeger in the 92nd minute of play forced Austria's goalkeeper Lütfi Özer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Netherlands's Koos de Vries was substituted for Hans Heuvel. Dario Burdach hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. Marinus Zandee could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 97th minute of the match, but Lütfi Özer made a huge save. Austria were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Netherlands for a fine match.
