Reynaldo Lluques made an important save on a dangerous shot by Telo Asensio in the 7th minute. Francisco Berbiz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ubaldo Matildo Armani having to interfere. 18 minutes into the match, U21 Mexico's goalkeeper Reynaldo Lluques had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Telo Asensio. An unexpectedly hard shot by Angelo Travieso in the 21st minute of play forced U21 Mexico's goalkeeper Reynaldo Lluques to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Angelo Travieso could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Reynaldo Lluques made a huge save. Reynaldo Lluques was a little too slow when Angelo Travieso got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 23rd minute. The score was now 1-0. Angelo Travieso's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Reynaldo Lluques read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 28th minute of play. U21 Venezuela were awarded a corner in the 29th minute after U21 Mexico's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Dei Canaria took the corner. The U21 Venezuela fans' excitement grew in the 74th match minute when U21 Venezuela's Edwardo Gadañon looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 5-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 77 played minutes U21 Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Arnoldo Rioja. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edwardo Gadañon in the 80th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Reynaldo Lluques saved U21 Mexico from getting behind. U21 Mexico's Reynaldo Lluques played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Angelo Travieso in the 82nd minute of play. After 86 minutes of play, U21 Venezuela's Angelo Travieso made it 6-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Reynaldo Lluques was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Francisco Berbiz came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the U21 Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Francisco Berbiz couldn't finish the play. In the 92nd minute Angelo Travieso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Reynaldo Lluques saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to U21 Mexico getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Guaberto Cefero hit a great ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The U21 Venezuela fans cheered their team off the field, for while U21 Mexico had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
