After 15 minutes Uruguay's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Markus Nordvik who took care of the corner kick. Bitxintxo Buraga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frode Øren having to interfere. In the 22nd minute Richie Olavarria shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frode Øren saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Richie Olavarria in the 22nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Frode Øren prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match had gone on for 22 minutes, Richie Olavarria put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Frode Øren. Afonso Sisquella showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Harald Berge, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. 29 minutes into the match, Jørgen Axelsen notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Uruguay's Afonso Sisquella. Afonso Sisquella was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Norway's Frode Øren played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ezequiel Leston in the 32nd minute of play. In the 37th minute, Henrik Stray hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Norway's Halvor Løvlie quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Dolcet Rocandia, made in the 39th minute of the game. Afonso Sisquella showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Harald Berge in the 43rd minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 47 minutes, Ezequiel Leston took a quick shot and it went in 3-1 without a chance for Frode Øren to make any attempt to save it. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.

The supporters of Uruguay booed when Norway was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Harald Berge didn't get a good kick on the ball. Uruguay's Afonso Sisquella played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jørgen Axelsen in the 57th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jørgen Axelsen in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Afonso Sisquella saved Uruguay from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jørgen Axelsen in the 63rd minute of play forced Uruguay's goalkeeper Afonso Sisquella to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, Harald Berge managed to get in a good position for a shot. Norway's supporters rose to their feet, but Harald Berge was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Afonso Sisquella breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Norway's Åsmund Koppang was substituted for Samuel Bernhardsen. In the 71st minute, Ezequiel Leston ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Frode Øren was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. Uruguay made a substitution. Baumar Espinosa replaced Sebastiano Barrachina. Uruguay made a substitution. Uruguay's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
