Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Juan-Pablo Videgaray started the match with the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Arnoldo Calero got free with Giovanni Ramalho in the 3rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Arnoldo Calero received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Giovanni Ramalho came out and tried to block the shot, but Arnoldo Calero slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 3rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Yuri da Silva in the 6th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Patricio Oca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Giovanni Ramalho was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Juan-Pablo Videgaray showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 8 minute of play. Patricio Oca didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alberto de Azevedo went, in the 16th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. In the 24th minute Golo Bonito shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Patricio Oca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Patricio Oca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Golo Bonito in the 30th minute of play. Patricio Oca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Yuri da Silva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 35th minute Yuri da Silva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Patricio Oca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 39th minute Santiago Córdova shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Giovanni Ramalho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 40th minute Alberto de Azevedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Patricio Oca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Alberto de Azevedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Golo Bonito was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 51 minutes, Alberto de Azevedo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Brazil's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alberto de Azevedo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 53rd minute, Brazil's Alberto de Azevedo dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-2. Giovanni Ramalho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Santiago Córdova, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Patricio Oca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto de Azevedo, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. In the 61st minute Yuri da Silva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Patricio Oca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador's Patricio Oca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto de Azevedo in the 64th minute of play. Patricio Oca made an important save on a dangerous shot by Golo Bonito in the 65th minute. In the 66th minute, Ernesto Batista hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Brazil made a substitution. Samuca Vergílio replaced Alberto de Azevedo. Brazil's Zé Roberto Seco was substituted for Golo Bonito. Brazil's Giovanni Ramalho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arnoldo Calero in the 72nd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Juan-Pablo Videgaray in the 74th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Giovanni Ramalho saved Brazil from getting behind. In the 76th minute, Brazil's Ernesto Batista ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Patricio Oca. Patricio Oca yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-3. Ecuador's Martin Guernica was substituted for Arnoldo Calero. Brazil made a substitution. Vitório Carioca replaced Yuri da Silva. Brazil's Giovanni Ramalho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Martin Guernica in the 81st minute of play. Vitório Carioca's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Patricio Oca firmly grabbed it by the left post. 84 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Patricio Oca had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Vitório Carioca. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nabucodonosor Pernambucano in the 86th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Patricio Oca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Patricio Oca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vitório Carioca, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. When Ecuador's Martin Guernica in the 92nd minute got a chance for a shot 92nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Brazil's goalie prevented a goal. Vitório Cariocas short, quick shot in the 95thth minute got Patricio Oca to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in.
When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Brazil had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
