After 17 played minutes Saudi Arabia got a freekick which was hit by Mnawer Al Jalahma. 20 minutes into the match, Saudi Arabia's goal looked a bit too open when Zinoviy Hairetdinov came free, but Aws Bo Qamaz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Kazakhstan's Dmitriy Kravtsov got control of the ball when Mnawer Al Jalahma tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 29th minute Ameer Ashkanani shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dmitriy Kravtsov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee ignored Kazakhstan's protests and gave Eduard Maksarev a yellow card for diving instead. After 33 played minutes Kazakhstan got a freekick which was hit by Eduard Maksarev. Saudi Arabia's Jalal Al Ammar got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Abdulatif Al Mehana got free with Dmitriy Kravtsov in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Kazakhstan's Dmitriy Lyukshinov got a free kick in the 35th minute. In the 41st minute Georgiy Denezhnyi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aws Bo Qamaz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

After a rather tough play, Saudi Arabia's Saleh Ashkanani got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Kazakhstan made a substitution. Yuriy Satarov replaced Eduard Maksarev. Kazakhstan's Sergey Gorshkov was substituted for Georgiy Denezhnyi. In the 93rd match minute, Saudi Arabia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Saleh Ashkanani to maneuver through the defense.
