U21 Saudi Arabia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hermelando Millán was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. In the 22nd minute, Wael Boland got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. U21 Spain's Tonete Estrada played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manaf Al Ajmi in the 24th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Iñaki Villar during the 27th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Hermelando Millán in the 29thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. U21 Spain:s Tonete Estrada showed great skill when he stopped Rashed Al Mahmed:s penalty. In the 40th minute, Teofilo Ziguenza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 41 played minutes U21 Spain got a freekick which was hit by Teofilo Ziguenza. Tonete Estrada showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manaf Al Ajmi, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute.

In the 52nd minute César Maldini shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Volkan Metehan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpected shot in the 86th minute by Abdelnaser Al Hashash got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. U21 Spain's César Maldini got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. For all the effort they put into the match, the U21 Saudi Arabia players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for U21 Spain.
