Seating: 1184, VIP seats: 103) Poland's Aleksander Penc started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Tonio Buttigieg stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Aleksander Penc's shot from short distance in the 3rd minute. Tonio Buttigieg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aleksander Penc, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. In the 7th minute, Aleksander Penc made a precise shot to the right of Tonio Buttigieg. Malta's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Tonio Buttigieg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aleksander Penc in the 10th minute of the match. 11 minutes into the game, Aleksander Penc cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Tonio Buttigieg was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Daniel Sammut got a throw-in 14 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Rosario Ambinette. Rosario Ambinette could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Tobiasz Czermak made a huge save. Aleksander Penc might have been able to make a better finish in the 18th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tonio Buttigieg. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Aleksander Penc ran back to his position shaking his head. Tonio Buttigieg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aleksander Penc, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. After a rather tough play, Malta's Daniel Sammut got a free kick in the 19th minute. Aleksander Penc fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tonio Buttigieg having to interfere. Evan Worley could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Tobiasz Czermak made a huge save. Malta's Tonio Buttigieg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aleksander Penc in the 31st minute of play. Aleksander Penc blasted a shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Tonio Buttigieg having to make a save. After a defensive mix-up in Malta's zone, Pedalas Pedalada stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tonio Buttigieg came out of the goal and Pedalas Pedalada tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Aleksander Penc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 41 minutes into the match, Malta's goal looked a bit too open when Aleksander Penc came free, but Tonio Buttigieg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Poland's Tobiasz Czermak proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save Poland from getting a goal against them. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedalas Pedalada in the 64th minute of play forced Malta's goalkeeper Tonio Buttigieg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 66th minute Henry D'Amico shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tobiasz Czermak saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Aleksander Penc kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Tonio Buttigieg. That made the score 0-4 in the 68 minute of play. Poland made a substitution. Zdzislaw Szpakowski replaced Robert Gadocha. Poland made a substitution. Radoslaw Brytka replaced Aleksander Penc. Radoslaw Brytka might have been able to make a better finish in the 73rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tonio Buttigieg. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Radoslaw Brytka ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience thought a goal was coming when Radoslaw Brytka got free with Tonio Buttigieg in the 73rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 78 minutes into the match, Malta's goalkeeper Tonio Buttigieg had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Radoslaw Brytka. Malta's Tonio Buttigieg proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 79th minute of the match, managed to save Malta from getting a goal against them. 81 minutes had been played when some careless play by Malta's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Bernard Zerde was slow to take the kick. During this time Poland's players had a chance to rest. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Radoslaw Brytka in the 90th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tonio Buttigieg saved Malta from getting behind. Tonio Buttigieg made a fantastic save in the 92nd minute, when Radoslaw Brytka sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Malta's Daniel Sammut got a free kick in the 93rd minute. Tonio Buttigieg made an important save on a dangerous shot by Radoslaw Brytka in the 94th minute. 97 minutes in the game, Radoslaw Brytka fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Tonio Buttigieg having to interfere. The Malta supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Poland's performance. The match ended with a win for Poland.
