Belgium's Marcus Lembrechts was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Luís Gustavo de Senna in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Luís Gustavo de Senna showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gwenn Adams in the 13th minute of the match. Pieter-Jan Daneels showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rômulo Velasco, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Andris Helssens in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luís Gustavo de Senna saved Brazil from getting behind. When the match had gone on for 25 minutes, Andris Helssens put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Luís Gustavo de Senna. An unexpectedly hard shot by Geordy Abrams in the 28th minute of play forced Brazil's goalkeeper Luís Gustavo de Senna to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Geordy Abrams fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Gustavo de Senna having to interfere. 34 minutes into the match, Brazil's goal looked a bit too open when Gwenn Adams came free, but Luís Gustavo de Senna reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Brazil booed when Belgium was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcus Lembrechts didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 41st minute Geordy Abrams shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Gustavo de Senna saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Pieter-Jan Daneels showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fernão Maciel, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. In the 75th minute Amadeu Fernandez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pieter-Jan Daneels saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fernão Maciel in the 81st minute of play forced Belgium's goalkeeper Pieter-Jan Daneels to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pieter-Jan Daneels showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amadeu Fernandez in the 83rd minute of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Belgium would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
