Spectators: 10302 (Terracing: 7727, Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Tuan McCord started the match with the kick off. When Malta's Fiobian Salamone in the 5th minute got a chance for a shot 5th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Canada's goalie prevented a goal. Enrique Frederick showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rosario Ambinette in the 16th minute of the match. Tonio Buttigieg came out of the goal in the 20th minute to try and stop a shot by Canada's Tuan McCord. But to his dismay, Tuan McCord quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Tuan McCord recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Donny Lujan's late challenge caught a Malta's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Donny Lujan helped the player get up and apologised. In the 25th minute, one of Canada:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Canada. Canada:s Enrique Frederick showed great skill when he stopped Fiobian Salamone:s penalty. Canada's Enrique Frederick played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leo Incorvaia in the 28th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tuan McCord in the 32nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tonio Buttigieg saved Malta from getting behind. Enrique Frederick took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leo Incorvaia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 39 minutes into the match, Malta's goal looked a bit too open when Tuan McCord came free, but Tonio Buttigieg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mario Sönmez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tonio Buttigieg having to interfere. Enrique Frederick made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Rosario Ambinette sent off a good shot on target. Evan Worleys short, quick shot in the 48thth minute got Enrique Frederick to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After the first half Canada were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Leo Incorvaia made the kick off in the second half. Enrique Frederick came out of the goal in the 51st minute to try and stop a shot by Malta's Leo Incorvaia. But to his dismay, Leo Incorvaia quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. The supporters of Canada booed when Malta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fiobian Salamone didn't get a good kick on the ball. Numbers Morgan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Malta made a substitution. Evan Bardon replaced Evan Worley. Zachery Kimball hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. In the 72ndth minute of the game Tuan McCord who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Malta's Tonio Buttigieg was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 79th minute Malta were awarded a corner. Fiobian Salamone went to the cornerflag to take it. Fiobian Salamone's long shot made the audience stand up and applaude when it rumbled by Enrique Frederick on his right side and into the goal. 79 minutes into the game it was 2-1. Canada's Tyson Forrest was substituted for Mario Sönmez. In the 86th minute, Ugo Filletti made a precise shot to the right of Enrique Frederick. Canada's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. Tonio Buttigieg made a fantastic save in the 91st minute, when Humberto Velasquez sent off a good shot on target.
