Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) U21 Canada's Dan Veilleux started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Orestis Karnezis made an important save on a dangerous shot by Angelo Mims in the 3rd minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Angelo Mims during the 9th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 9th minute, Angelo Mims hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 10 played minutes U21 Canada got a freekick which was hit by Demarcus Bisaillon. Trinidad Plummer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Argyris Charalambakis in the 12th minute of the match. Dan Veilleux's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Orestis Karnezis firmly grabbed it by the left post. Argyris Charalambakis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Trinidad Plummer having to interfere. With a little luck, U21 Greece's Orestis Karnezis got control of the ball when Dan Veilleux tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 23rd minute, Dan Veilleux got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 26th minute Kostas Stavroulis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Trinidad Plummer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Orestis Karnezis made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dan Veilleux in the 27th minute. After 28 minutes, Dan Veilleux mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the U21 Canada and the U21 Greece players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, U21 Canada's Dan Veilleux got a free kick in the 28th minute. 31 minutes into the match, Babbis Aggelakoglou had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Trinidad Plummer. U21 Canada's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Babbis Aggelakoglou was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Lukáš Piszczek sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Orestis Karnezis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dan Veilleux, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Orestis Karnezis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dan Veilleux in the 41st minute of play. U21 Canada's Trinidad Plummer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kostas Stavroulis in the 45th minute of play. If Nerino Castillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nerino Castillo was the one to do the kick off. After 53 played minutes U21 Canada got a freekick which was hit by Demarcus Bisaillon. Trinidad Plummer made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Argyris Charalambakis sent off a good shot on target. Orestis Karnezis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dan Veilleux in the 64th minute of play. Kostas Kastakis hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. U21 Greece's Alkis Pentedekas was substituted for Theofanis Peppas. U21 Greece's Stergios Zafiriou was substituted for Argyris Charalambakis. A collision led to U21 Greece getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Kostas Kastakis hit a great ball. In the 69th match minute, U21 Greece was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kostas Kastakis to maneuver through the defense. Babbis Aggelakoglou received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Trinidad Plummer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 83 minutes U21 Canada's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Tilemachos Spyroulis who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on U21 Greece's corner Tilemachos Spyroulis fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Trinidad Plummer quite easily take care of the ball. In the 84th minute, Dan Veilleux hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Babbis Aggelakoglou had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 90 minutes into the game, U21 Greece's Panagiotis Mavroidis nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Trinidad Plummer made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Trinidad Plummer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stergios Zafiriou, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
