Väino Kann made the kick off and thus started the match. Estonia's Peeter Čech played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by František Totti in the 4th minute of play. 8 minutes into the match, Estonia's goalkeeper Peeter Čech had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by František Totti. René Zeman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Väino Kann in the 11th minute of play. 13 minutes into the match, Matúš Košičan had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Peeter Čech. Estonia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Matúš Košičan was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. 16 minutes into the match, Slovakia's goal looked a bit too open when Väino Kann came free, but René Zeman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 19 minutes had been played when some careless play by Estonia's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Stanislav Mak was slow to take the kick. During this time Slovakia's players had a chance to rest. Matúš Košičan made a great header on Slovakia's corner, it was just that Estonia's Peeter Čech managed to reach the ball for a save. Matúš Košičan did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-0 to the left of a surprised Peeter Čech 20 minutes into the match. René Zeman stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lauri Moodne's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. In the 34th minute Väino Kann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but René Zeman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Peeter Čech made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Matúš Košičan in the 38th minute of play. When Väino Kann came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Estonia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Väino Kann couldn't finish the play. René Zeman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Väino Kann in the 42nd minute of play. In the 46th match minute, Estonia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lauri Moodne to maneuver through the defense. Peeter Čech showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Matúš Košičan, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when František Totti stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, František Totti hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 54th minute, Väino Kann got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 57th minute Väino Kann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but René Zeman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match clock showed 60 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Väino Kann sped through Slovakia's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of René Zeman. Slovakia's Matej Schvarzbacher was substituted for Miroslav Bach. Slovakia's Tibor Choreň was substituted for Matúš Košičan. Estonia made a substitution. Gerd Raasuke replaced Eikki Lemmik. A well done corner resulted in Väino Kann drilling the ball in to score 2-2 behind Slovakia's goalkeeper. When Slovakia's Stanislav Janáč in the 70th minute got a chance for a shot 70th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Estonia's goalie prevented a goal. František Totti's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Peeter Čech read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 72nd minute of play. René Zeman stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Väino Kann's shot from short distance in the 78th minute. With his leg René Zeman managed to avoid a goal in the 81stth minute, when Estonia's Väino Kann fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 82 minutes had been played when some careless play by Slovakia's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Virgo Übi was slow to take the kick. During this time Estonia's players had a chance to rest. René Zeman was out of position in the 84 minute of play, and Edgar Hallik capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Edgar Hallik really showed his touch with that goal: 2-3. Väino Kann could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but René Zeman made a huge save. In the 88th match minute, Estonia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lauri Moodne to maneuver through the defense. After 89 played minutes Estonia got a freekick which was hit by Edgar Hallik. Estonia's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
