Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) U21 Belgium's Eric De Loose started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd match minute, U21 Belgium was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eric De Loose to maneuver through the defense. After 5 played minutes U21 Belgium got a freekick which was hit by Eric De Loose. U21 France's Georges Tapie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eric Bellinkx in the 8th minute of play. Georges Tapie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eric Bellinkx, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 11th minute U21 Belgium were awarded a corner. Roland Leyman went to the cornerflag to take it. After 12 played minutes U21 France got a freekick which was hit by Mehdi Maximin. Georges Tapie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eric Bellinkx, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 19 minutes into the game, U21 France's Pacôme Musso nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rolf De Winter made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Eric De Loose who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 23rdth minute tested the skills of Georges Tapie when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 29th minute, Pacôme Musso left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The U21 France fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Eric Bellinkx might have been able to make a better finish in the 32nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Georges Tapie. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eric Bellinkx ran back to his position shaking his head. Georges Tapie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eric Bellinkx in the 32nd minute of the match. The referee ignored U21 Belgium's protests and gave Robrecht Marant a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to U21 Belgium getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Robrecht Marant hit a great ball. U21 Belgium's Jullian Van haeck was substituted for Eric Bellinkx. U21 Belgium's Pieter Reijnders was substituted for Robrecht Marant. U21 Belgium's Rolf De Winter played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pacôme Musso in the 75th minute of play. Roland Leyman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 98th minute. Georges Tapie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match was over U21 France could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than U21 Belgium throughout the match.
