Spectators: 10300 (Terracing: 7725, Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gil Ojero in the 4th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Albano Tancredo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 6 minutes Argentina's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Edgardo Vilar who took care of the corner kick. Basilio Urguia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hernan Fredes in the 8th minute of play. In the 10th minute, Lope Cardeñosa made a precise shot to the right of Albano Tancredo. Argentina's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Basilio Urguia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hernan Fredes in the 15th minute of play. Peru's players were relieved. 15 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Argentina's Lucas Inocente fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lope Cardeñosa in the 17th minute of play forced Argentina's goalkeeper Albano Tancredo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Albano Tancredo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gil Ojero, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Argentina fans' excitement grew in the 25th match minute when Argentina's Astor Jaizki looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 29th minute Gil Ojero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albano Tancredo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 31 minutes had been played when some careless play by Argentina's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Edgardo Vilar was slow to take the kick. During this time Peru's players had a chance to rest. With a little luck, Peru's Basilio Urguia got control of the ball when Astor Jaizki tried to sneak it across the goal line. Basilio Urguia made a fantastic save in the 32nd minute, when Astor Jaizki sent off a good shot on target. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lucas Inocente in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Basilio Urguia saved Peru from getting behind. Hernan Fredes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Lucas Inocente made the kick off in the second half. If Lucas Inocente had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Albano Tancredo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nevada Graci in the 56th minute of the match. Basilio Urguia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lucas Inocente, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lucas Inocente in the 60th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Basilio Urguia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 61 minutes into the game, Lucas Inocente was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Argentina's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Peru the free kick. Lucas Inocente hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. 68 minutes into the game, one of Peru:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Argentina a penalty, 70 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Ulises Toro, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Peru's Basilio Urguia. 2-1. Peru made a substitution. Cordarrol Villamandos replaced Lope Cardeñosa. 76 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Severo Gorbea came free, but Basilio Urguia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Severo Gorbea recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 82 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Severo Gorbea came free, but Basilio Urguia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Severo Gorbea in the 82nd minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Basilio Urguia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Basilio Urguia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Severo Gorbea, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. In the 86th minute, Peru's Cordarrol Villamandos ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Albano Tancredo. Albano Tancredo yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-2. After 94 played minutes Argentina got a freekick which was hit by Benigno Guerrero. In the 96th minute Severo Gorbea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Basilio Urguia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 97th minute the ball was on its way in behind Peru's goalkeeper Basilio Urguia, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
