MZ Manager is no more!

Good evening fellow managers.

A little over 2 years ago I came back to Managerzone after a LONG time away from it.
When I came everything was like I left it I thought, but after little while, a lot og small changes had been implemented in the game, and a lot less managers were playing it.

The people I had sold a copy of the source code to, when I left, had failed to publicize any new versions, and most of the data download was broken. So, my first initiative were to get it fixed and release v2.4d. In the process of creating 2.4d I got some good people to help and test. I launched the mzmanager.dk website and a discord server, and all was good and fun.

After a while I wanted to start on v2.5. I had a lot of ideas to utilize the new features and data and crunched out a feature list and release plan for it. All happened on discord. But something had changed again. This time I got 0 people who had time or was interested in helping, with alfa and beta testing.

After a month I decided to take the discord server down to see if I could get a reaction. 0 people reacted. Then I took to mzmanager.dk website down. 0 people reacted. I decided to close the public part of the project in silence, and it has been closed for months!

This week some managers started to get problems with MZ Manager 2.4c and I they reached out in chat, guestbook and in the forums. But still I can count on 2 hands and one foot how many reactions I got. So, I am very confident and relaxed with my decision to close down my MZ Manager project for the public, and for good this time.

If any out there has the version 2.4d installation files, you have my permission to put on a website for others to download. You are of course not permitted to alter it in any way, and add malware or virus to files, but I am sure some will anyways, so for managers who want to download the files, please make sure you always run them through you antivirus program first before you install it.

It was great fun when I took over the Manzone v1.27b utility from g00fy in 2003 and gave it a full makeover and added hockey to it with version 2.0 in January 2004

At its highest MZ Manager had 17K+ active users worldwide. I learned a lot from having that many active users to support, from almost all available time zones.

Now is a good time to end it.

R.I.P. MZ Manager

PS: I think the MZ Assistant tool now is the last available tool with an active development. Look it up. [isvicare] is doing a great job with it!

I read your message and unfortunately the news is not good.
I've always thought your work was excellent, is there anything I can do to contribute? I can say that for me there is no reason to play without your tool.
Without MZ Manager, I will have no more reason to continue playing.
I'll stay as long as the tool is working, as soon as I experience unrecoverable issues, I'll leave the game.
Thank you very much, you did an excellent job, good luck.

I expect MZ Manager to continue to work until MZ decides to close the datafeed. But they didn't close it when they moved to the cloud so I think it will be working for some time yet :)

Thanks for the kind words and support! :)

Sad news. Great work on that excelent program. I am sure even without updates many people will still use it for next years. I have myself over 7.5k matches saved there.

Thanks for coming back to MZ and updating MzM to 2.4d !

Sad to hear about how MZ Manager has come to an end, hope the complete MZ game doesn't finish the same way 🙁

Thanks for what you did with MZ Manager. It was very useful indeed.
Luckily MZ did some changes so we don't really need external tools any longer.

Those were the days when you paid 5000 SEK for the source code.

Thanks for great work.

I had the same error.
Was corrected later to install the last version 2.4d (Thanks Flemming).

This error apparently show when trying to read a invalid player name, or team name.

You can restoring the file .DAT (mzmanager_hockey.dat or mzmanager_football.dat)
from the backup that the program creates every time that it is used
(mzmanager_football.dat2 - .dat3 - .dat4).

Excuses for my bad English.

Time to bring back MZ manager. And a new version with U21, U23 and shortpass and Wings etc.

Come on people!

Not enough active managers to justify the work or expenses!

I have moved away from MZ Manager and automated the tedious tasks instead, so have no reason to update it for my own sake.

You should take a look at the MZ Assistant tool from [isvicare]

Is MZ Assistant still working? What do you use it for?

It does pretty much the same thing as MZ Manager. Generally speaking, it's a tool to keep a local record of all your matches and trainings.

I have but it is not as good. You did such a great job, shame MZ is dying.

Yes, it's a shame.
Weird that MZ doesn't seem to want to attract new players.
