Importance of experience and total skills

I have a 23 year old defender. The opposition striker waltzed past him three times and scored three times (in the first half). (I won 8-3). The opposition had three shots in the game. My defender has total skills 51 and attributes as listed below. Speed 8 Stamina 8 PI 10 Passing 3 Heading 5 BC 3 Tackling 10 AP 1 Exp 4 The opponent's striker has 73 skills, notably: Speed 9 Stamina 8 PI 10 Passing 7 Shooting 9 BC 8 Experience 10 In terms of being able to tackle an opponent, what was my defenders biggest problem? Is my defenders speed or stamina significantly detrimental? Do non-tackling skills (ball control, passing, aerial passing) impact my defenders ability to tackle? Or is it down to the players inexperience? I don't think it's speed and stamina because national team players have 8 speed and stamina. My belief is the biggest issue is the overall amount of skills as they contribute to the players ability to perform which in this instance undermines the ability to tackle.I have a 23 year old defender. I don't think it's speed and stamina because national team players have 8 speed and stamina. My belief is the biggest issue is the overall amount of skills as they contribute to the players ability to perform which in this instance undermines the ability to tackle.

Speed and experience imo. But the match engine is probably the worst out there. All your players BC is too low to actually take control of the ball if he does tackle. But it also relates to support. What players were nearby. Supporting their striker or not supporting your defender. Pixels are incredibly important. As is your formation and tactics.Speed and experience imo. Experience is a huge factor. 4 experience at 23 is very poor. 8 stamina can also be an issue when you get into higher leagues. Your player also has no ball control, AP or passing so even if he does make a tackle his distribution is likely going to be average. He's being carried by his 10 PI. The simulator does really weird things though. Speed isn't a huge factor as 7 speed players seem to outrun 9's regularly. Overall he's not a very strong player at senior league.
