Set plays

What is set plays useful for? Please don't state the obvious. Assuming they convert free kicks and penalties more often.

Is that there sole use. Or would a players set play skill work as a multiplier for everyones relevant skills. Attacking for corners, free kicks etc. Defending for free kick and corners. Or am I missing the point?

We can only speculate.

I don't think it's an entirely useless skill. It has to have some purpose, otherwise it wouldn't make sense to include it in the game. However, a player being good at set plays doesn't equal better free kick/penalty conversion rate (from empirical observation). So, it's a really hard question to answer. Nobody knows what set plays really does. It could be what you said. It could be lots of things.

Has anyone attempted a squad with high set plays?

Try and get an 8+ for every position for set plays?

set plays aren't for penalties. They improve accuracy on corners and free kicks.

In the beginners guide, set plays is stated as:

"Teams containing a Player with good skill ratings in Set Plays will be more effective from corners, free kicks and penalties".

I personally have a few players with SP more than eight balls, and so far from what I observed, they never miss a single penalty. However, it is a different case with free kicks where they rarely score.

Would it be helpful for Keepers? To be good at penalties?
