Deteriorating Player
By brikkun - 22-10-2020 01:31
My captain is deteriorating. He is currently training a skill (heading) on which he has 1@ with a coach that has 7@ in heading. Yet he keeps deteriorating and losing balls in different other skills. How can I stop/minimise his deterioration?

Deterioration in Speed/Stamina is built in for players 30+, and can't be avoided. Other skills do not deteriorate.
From my experience, they will lose at most 2 balls in each and will lose about 0.5 balls in each per season. Eventually, it becomes something that you account for and plan around.
Hope this helps.

Players automatically deteriorate when they hit 30 years old. They will only deteriorate a maximum of 2 balls in each Speed and Stamina (4 balls total). Typically they lose their first ball in each when they hit 30 and their second ball each when they turn 33.
Deteriorating isn’t avoidable but you can still train the player in other skills and gain balls.

Sometimes the player loses 2 balls in one skill (Speed or Stamina) in one season.

Cheers! So balls lost through deterioration are always in Speed and/or Stamina?

Yes, only speed and stamina can’t be any other skill

I have never seen this. Was it a player who had only just achieved the first ball lost in that skill? I had a player stop training before maxing, but he didn't lose two balls in one ability in the same season. He still took the typical 3 seasons to lose the "second ball".
Technically, he never lost the first ball in that skill because he stopped training in speed before achieving the the first ball "lost". I hope that is not too confusing.
