Gregorio Montez - Highest paid player in the game

Badge image
Clubs are breaking all kinds of records for this player but there is no noise being made about him on the English forums. His ball distribution is the best I've seen in the game by far.

He just got sold for 40million usd having been sold for 42million usd last year. This is a world record if I'm correct which is higher than Hector Sugar. But that eye watering 170k a week salary is what is baffling to me because I thought there was a wage cap implemented some time back?

That's a sick player, I tried bidding but realized didn't have the money.

£24,630,813 (in GBP) was the winning bid for Hector Sugar, this guy was around £22.4m.

Close though.

Looking from the statistics, the previous clubs can only afford him for an average period of 4 months which is equivalent to one season. just wondering, how long the new club will be able to ‘sustain’ him this time? 😂

You can check out the site below by Hanzinho for a list of the biggest transfers in the history of the game and as you can see Gregorio Montez was sold to Dukla Praga for 42 981 705 USD on 25-11-2019. Using today's exchange rate of 1.12 for Euro to USD conversion this translates to 38 280 138.40 Euros which is a world record according to Hanzinho's site. Hector Sugar was sold for 35 835 705 Euros.

You were right ashleyhughes :-). I just checked Hector's transfer on MZ and it looks like Hector still holds the record with 44 303 444 USD. Hanzinho's figures are off on his site. Weird.

What I really want to know is what use does a division 2 polish team really have for a player like that? They could buy a complete better side and be in Ekstraklasa or compete on the world stage. Unless they have a 100 million more for the rest of the team to come.

Good point but usually those types of super players tend to play for pretty low level teams - i guess managers who dont play that active anymore but have huge amount of money, so why not, specially if they really dont have a plan to make a return.

Guy now moves to Ecuador div3 side....

Exactly. Low ambition for titles means more cash to waste. I mean spend lol.

This guy's salary alone almost pays the salary of all my senior players, lol

His new salary is 208 570 USD a week. That's 2 294 270 USD a season for one player's salary. This game really needs a salary cap because this has gone past the point of ridiculous. Teams shouldn't be punished by these crazy salary formulas just because of how lopsided the demand and supply balance is.

Re: Gregorio Montez - Highest paid player in the game

If he is a top top player he should come with a top top salary!

Should Messi or Ronaldo have a salary cap?

(IMHO real life football/sports should be salary capped!)

If you have $40M to expend on a player, you have $200K a week to pay for his salary, if you can't pay the salary, don't buy the player... is quite simple really.

I rather have a cap on how much money anyone can make of the sale of a player and after let's say a large sum like $8M, the rest of the money goes to taxes. It's a bit insane that a manager can instantly make $40M by selling a player.

I agree on both counts. I recently bought a 20 year old for 10million AUD and I just camped him and it cost 700k! Makes me definitely think twice about spending that much again.

I think a little more than 10 million though. Maybe 10 million EUR. Getting lucky by having a magical youth player shouldn’t justify one team getting rich.

If this game mirrored real life football then you'd have a point. In real life the club has an infinite number of ways to make money so they can afford to maintain high wage players. We don't have as many options to make real money in this game. Imagine what kind of game this would be if top clubs made something like $15million each season from "TV deals", real sponsorship deals, renting out arenas, returns from cash investments in non-sport related activities etc... Doing this will keep a lot more managers in the game I think.

I strongly disagree. We all know most teams that spend this big have been saving for a long time or have cash from selling their entire squad. Doesn't mean that once you spend $40million on a player you have another $80million to spend on other players and on wages. Like I said we need more avenues to make virtual dollars which will cause some inflation but guess what regardless of inflation so long as salaries are capped or reformulated you can afford to splash big on a player just for fun or for bragging rights you know.

That's my point. Why should any high spending manager be punished with high TC fees and wages? More money slushing around increases the fun factor I think and I think the restricted nature of the game regarding money making is driving even the most devoted players away.

Exactly that reason... because you’re high spending. High wages and expensive training camps encourages managers to build a team and invest in youth not buy a team of champion players. If you take the buy expensive players route there needs to be repercussions.

Also helps limit the advantage users who only play Uxx leagues and don’t run a competitive senior team have from a financial point of view

There is a limit on world class players in the game though so the scenario you imagine of every team having a top 11 of monster players is not going to happen.

Re: Gregorio Montez - Highest paid player in the game

And a game filled with monster players everywhere will actually drive prices down.

So when a team buys a player for eg 20 mill the manager has no choice other than pay this 20 million dictated by the market's demand and supply forces. So why should this manager end up paying for being part of a system he doesn't have control over?

I’m not saying every team has the option to buy world class players. Take Hanzo’s starting eleven team 2 seasons ago cost 115 million AUD to buy. Should he be punished with high salaries...absolutely! If you want to buy the best players you need to pay their high salaries.

Remember having the best players allows you compete at a higher level winning more which is gaining more financial reward through cups/leagues etc. it’s not all disadvantage

To be honest, if you invest $40M on one player, you should have at least another $40M lying around... I mean, if you had $10M in total, would you expend $9M on just one player? If you do, that's poor finantial managing right there....

Also, I don't think one of this superstars ever went to a top team, this usually go to lower division teams that only want the bragging rights... in this case, it went to a 3rd division team in Ecuador that has mostly U21 players

Gregorio Montez is the best player that I have ever seen in the game, and he has a plus that only he is 26 years old. He really is young and is part of the Argentine team. But not everything is perfect for him because his 8 balls of experience are not enough for playing 90 minutes in the national team. His salary (208 570 USD) is higher than my team hahaha. I think that Gregorio should be play in the best leagues and teams. I mean, a div3 is little for him.
Can someone show me to Hector Sugar please?

I don’t think experience would affect him playing 90 minutes whatsoever. The best way to look at Experience is more like an amplifier and the more balls a player has the better his other skills are. Only stamina would influence him playing 90 minutes with any drop off of performance.

Re: Gregorio Montez - Highest paid player in the game

Yes I agree with you I expressed wrong sorry, but what I mean is that the experience do better to player, and decide better in the field. A National team level is very important the players has 10 in experience, or in defect, 9. Is just my opinion, anyway can be not be correct
