planning around total ball skill

No! Ie: a keeper may have 70 balls but if he only has 8 balls in keeping he’s a poor keeper.No!

Depends- primary skills as mentioned above are always of more importance than having a lot of skill balls in less important secondaries. A player with more overall balls than another could be a good way to differentiate between two players of close ability but shouldn’t be the only deciding factor.Depends- primary skills as mentioned above are always of more importance than having a lot of skill balls in less important secondaries.

Almost it is considering the FIFA overall rating is very vague. But MZ's total balls indicator is even independent of the position and independent of how important the skills are. It could only give a clue about the age/training speed of a player. But it's a nice thought to simplify judgement. Maybe it'd work with a script showing the total balls for defined skill-sets. E.g. a striker skill-set with only striker-skills. And the indicator shows the percentage of the player's balls to the maximum possible balls, but only with these defined skills. Even more precise, if a main skill (e.g. shooting for strikers) takes a bigger proportion. And the highest indicator can be the main overall rating indicator.
