A keeper or a beast ??

Badge image
This match,
It's clear that the 2 teams are not on the same level (especially when you see the players values) But Peru lost the ball possession and it was seconds away from leaving the pitch with a draw.

4 vs 43 shots
1-2
54 % - 46 %

Goalkeeper : 32 saves

How can you eplain that and why Iran had more possession ?
I've never saw this number of shots and savings in a single game before here.

54 % - 56 % is quite impressive. The teams are so good that they broke the laws of mathematics. He's certainly a beast! 😜

But great that the superior team actually won the game.

There may have been a couple of reasons -

1) The Peruvian strikers weren't that good, hence they couldnt convert chances into goals.

2) The Iran GK was too good, which I doubt.

3) The MZ random vis-a-vis a GK's perfromance, which I have personally seen happening many times in the past. This is the most likely reason.

Take this match for example -

Brazil won 7-3 against Vietname. The Vietnamese scored 3 goals from 6 shots on target. You think the Brazilian GK is so bad compared to the Vietnamese strikers that he's gonna let in 3 goals from their 6 shots ? Of course not ! But it did happen, due to the MZ random :)

Tomorrow, you'll see this same Brazilian GK keep a clean sheet against an Argentine team with 10+ shots on target. That's how it is :)

A goal kick takes longer than a shot and after a save has been made the keeper has possession for a small time inflating the possession percentages.

I vote for the third option, but it's hard to watch this game

Good and interesting logic for the possession factor :)
