Fired Players

What happens to players when they are fired? Are they pooled anywhere like free agents to be picked up by any team? Or are they just gone from the game?

Gone.

That's too bad. Would be cool to be able to have a pool of free agents to choose from. I can understand not wanting to devote resources to saving all those players through multiple seasons, but even if they did it on a per season basis and scrubbed it at the end, it could add some flavor to the market.

The "free agent" approach was tried and tested in the past
It simply caused more troubles than good, both game wise and technically(iirc)

Now days, the way training and youth academies work, I don't think there's a good reason into (re)introducing the free agent system

Players that get fired are simply not good enough for anyone I believe...

Makes sense, I'm still new and United States market is hit and miss. I just want more players to choose from and do stuff with. Guess I may need to look into coining up the youth academy.

A full youth academy setup is a must

Both for training hot prospects for your team and for making some $$$ by selling some of them

Agree that the US market is very hit or miss. Seems like there are very few good players at reasonable prices. And no one seems to want any of the okay players which get posted - probably why so many wind up getting fired. I kind of agree with Darkline that the increase in international roster spots has made a ghost town of many local transfer markets.

Your junk is yours to fire, just remember to fire them all.
