Lets get MZ booming again like the old days!!

Badge image
I remember back in 2003/2004 when this game was absolutely booming with players. The forums were very active and most teams playing were also. Nowadays it seems like its all changed.

I myself have come back after a long spell away, and i am really getting back into this game and enjoying it! I have told a load of my mates also that used to play this back in school, the majority are also going to make a return. I think we need to push this game more and get it out there, get the active members up to what it should be. Its a great game this and it pains me to see it like this.

What are your thoughts guys??

I think if crew sorted the 3D out people would start playing again.

In 29th of June, Managerzone showed us on Facebook a video from the new 3D, witch is the same .... but you need no plug in, and can run in any browser. Once the new 3D is out as default, they can work on making it better.
I personally believe that the new 3D will be out this year.

Are you sure you are not talking about MZ Golf?

If you want more users bring in the MZ Golf with an app on android and ios.

Think it would be hard to get a b9om like the old days..there is far more developed games around.

If I'm honest I think the only chance mz would stand is if they coded in an app for android and Apple that appeared as a game to phone owners but accessed all of mz features... that would bring in a large casual gamer influx and raise mz's profile again.

As much as I've enjoyed it through various stints over the last 15 years, the game needs full redevelopment.

- New sim
- New, actually good 3D
- Option for real-time match management, what's the point of being a manager if you can't impact on games as they happen?
- Entire tactical overhaul
- New training system and player stats overhaul (like, strength, keeper specifics etc)
- Updates to transfer system/free transfers/loan system
- New commercial tie-ins
- Overhaul of the membership system
- Actual app as previously mentioned

The potential is there for this game to be huge. But it needs to try and replicate real-world football in some way without losing the essence of a simulated make-believe game world. Teams don't really play with random banana shaped tactics IRL, shock horror.

Make the game akin to something more believable and an addicted, thriving community would soon follow. The devs already have a alpha/beta player base to test things before a relaunch. A bit of investment, creativity and smidgen of risk-taking is what's needed, imo.

Sounds like whole new game! :P

Basically yeah :) Maybe a sequel, shall we say.

But with the current player base ready-made to test it. Not the worst situation to start from scratch from!

"New training system and player stats overhaul (like, strength, keeper specifics etc)"

I'd rather have 10 skills that work and are fine tuned in the SIM, than have more of them just for "reality" reasons

also take in mind that if you add more skills to the game, we're gonna have people arguing (again) for even faster training progress because the players simply don't have enough seasons to ahead of them to be able to get maxed out at their 25's

also (again) you can't have position only skills, because one of the main "trademarks" of MZ, is that players can play anywhere on the pitch

Think the point I'm making is that this game is still effectively the same it was 15 years ago, just with a bit of sprucing up here and there. It's a hard sell trying to get people to play it who didn't have experience playing it when it was newer.

Try and explain to someone who loves playing FM that in order to get maximum results you need to put your tactics like a squashed banana, or stick a player really randomly over on the side of the pitch, they wouldn't have it. People want to actually test their tactical skills and knowledge, surely? There's more to football than "this player goes there, that's where he stays."

Football and football management games have moved on, it's all smarter. Not saying this is a bad game, I love it, this is the closest that exists to a game that I think a lot of people want to play. Just needs sorting out a bit in my opinion.

Also I don't see how it's a USP for players to be able to play anywhere. That doesn't really happen much. The current training model is probably one of the less urgent parts of the game to review but you still essentially train a player to be a certain type of player, right? And also I was sort of only referring to keepers having their own skill set, as it's such a specialist position. Why would a keeper need to be good at shooting?

The best games have to constantly evolve, adapt and improve in order to retain a vast, healthy player base. Not just stay the same in the hope of retaining a hardcore minority.

But I do love MZ, hopefully that's not getting lost in my comments. I just want the best for it.

I had been away for years, I was one of the first Managers from the US, my team made it to the top flight (CA Bella Vista), you can look at The Zone from that time. Over all there's an improvement in the game, I'm still not crazy about the SIM but it's much much better. I also hate the maxing out thing, although the youth system is much better, though I don't remember it very well.

MZ, as 10+ y.o. managers knew it, is dead and has long been so. What we have today is just a matrix designed to keep us traped in it, considering it to be reality. The only problem is that the Architect is a 6 year old using crayola...

To hunt wild kangaroos running frantically on the soccer field.

I am doing my part. I keep the forums active, funny and generally unpredictible. They had to choose two forums assistants to keep an eye on me.

I make and maintain rivalities, between individual players, countries, and us vs crew.

I win big and lose bigly.

If only the game had and android and ios app, none of my performance would have been necessary.

Either way, you guys would be missing out.
