What is the cost benefit of having youth(s) team?
Will my team earn enough profits to balance the cost? etc etc etc...

I ran a cost benefit for a youth squad back in 2013 when there was less consistency with U18 competitions and the numbers came our good. So long as you can enter 5 or 6 competitions a season the money brought in offsets the cost of having a youth set up.
Have not run the numbers for U21 or U23. I had a few years where I progressed far in a few U23 cups and those years it definitely paid off having the U23's.

Plus the fact that you pay very little to have a full squad, whereas you can get to develop 2-3-4 players that could really become goor or excellent transfers, thus adding to the benefit.
For me, youths are a must!

I have 23 players, I recently sold one player for $1m. I promote about 4-6 six player per season, I release the maxed out players I kept in the u18 for experience. The main problem is that they keep maxing out in speed or stamina, the player I sold I meant to keep but he maxed at 7 speed but had potential for 10 in tackling. Right now, I have exactly one player that will be a first team player next season and another as back-up on the bench.
I keep them because you need back ups and experienced players have high salaries. Plus it's not hard to find prospects in the market at a good price when you need a future starter sooner.

I would like to have a U team. However, I can only afford 11 players. I have no subs, or back ups or youth.

If this is really so, you ARE doing something wrong!

What are you planning to do when your current players get old?

Having youths is a fad.
Having mastercard is priceless.

Youth payers are really there just so that you can cash in on some good transfers and provide back ups. In some cases you may get a starter or two in the future, and if you're lucky a super star. If you don't want youth players that's okay, you can always find one ore two young players that you can train at a good cost. I think you're spending too much money on wages, those players are only going to get more expensive and their resale value will go down.

If you're playing in U18 competitions, certainly.
If you aren't, then almost certainly.
