I always use my guy with the most shooting - but I see to have my Penalty's saved more often than they are scored :(
This could be one eyed comment though... Maybe is 50-50 scored.
Has anyone an Idea on what balls are the best for Penalty's?
Saying 10 Shooting and 10 Set Plays would be unhelpful! Because I run an u-18 and u21 team only... So we are limited on how many balls.

I have used best set play taker as penalty taker for my team. With NT team I looked the combo of those two skills!

I have a 7@set plays player with just 1@ in shooting
I will set him up as penalty taker and will get back at you with some stats (but i reckon it will take a while)

Re: Shooting or Set Plays for penalty's?
By aldebaran - 26-07-2018 12:46
also, the 7@ set plays is one quarter away from becoming an 8@
and to add a bit more to the conversation:
I had a 10@shooter as my penalty taker for many seasons (with only 1@ in set plays)
He had a pretty nice ratio (almost perfect) (sorry I can't provide numbers) while I was playing in weaker leagues
As soon as the opposition became tougher, the ratio started to fall, even though my player had raised his set plays up to 5@ (maxed so not sure if s.plays at 5 is simply not enough to affect scoring ability from penalties)
All this talk of course without taking into account the luck/RNG ellement

This will be an interesting experiment. I think you will find out fast if is not good with just set play.

Nice test.
Bring your resultfor us.
I always search players with much @ in shooting and experience. After, if he has much @ in set plays, so he's elected.

It will take a while because I only play friendlies and league games. Also the chance of a penalty occurring is not that high at my current "difficulty level"
non the less, I will keep the test running for...let's say until 20 penalties have occurred
is that a good number guys?
ps. it will also be nice if other managers could join this experiment
ie. 2 people gathering data with simple 10@shooting and low experience penalty takers
another 2 managers with 10@shooter 10@XP penalty takers and so on (various combinations)
we still won't be able to take into account the effect of the opponent keeper, but I think we will get some good insights

update
friendly match
https://www.managerzone.com/?p=match&sub=result&mid=1026974026&tid=1254726
missed penalty (shot wide out of goal, perhaps @shooting has (also) to do with accuracy while taking penalties)
(also the opposing keeper had a good performance in the above match)
1/3 in total (all in friendlies)
ps. the penalty taker now has 8@ in set plays (maxed)

update
2/5 penalties (0/1 league, 2/4 friendlies)

the shot went straight to the keeper but got deflected to the back of the net

update
3/6 penalties (0/1 league, 3/5 friendlies)
https://www.managerzone.com/?p=match&sub=result&mid=1028007426&tid=1254726
again, the shot went straight to the keeper and got deflected to the back of the net
ps. the good thing about the friendlies penalties, is that the opposing keeper is always the same (one less random factor to take into account)

Re: Shooting or Set Plays for penalty's?

Is this experiment going versus different GK, as this will really alter the result.
It should be done in scout matches vs same team,to remove any variables
-
Re: Shooting or Set Plays for penalty's?
By aldebaran - 11-09-2018 23:55
Scout matches?
You mean the ones with over 50% luck coeficient in them?
And tokens?
Feel free to spend your money and your free club membership scout matches, cause I don't have neither of them to spare
:P
This is just another "silly" experiment so we can get a broad idea about how some things work in MZ.
There's no need to over analyze anything in MZ, simply because the RNG factor is too high or because the whole SIM behaviour can be changed in a jiffy simply by changing a few digits here and there
-
Re: Shooting or Set Plays for penalty's?
By aemi - 12-09-2018 03:46
what are you talking about alde, MZ is a fine machine of high precision simulator of kangaroo kicking. How dare you imply MZ SIM is random?! You must apologize to the Swedish nation, they gave us IKEA, Volvo and MZ. There is so much precision in the sim that even a crew member is not able to win stuff... the sim is that good.
