Badge image
Hi All,

I played mz many moons ago and fancied coming back to see whats changed and play the game again.

Whats the best way to prep for a new season? i've made some additions to my stadium, i will order youth on day 1 of the next season and im hoping to complete the pre-season tour to get the financial bonus.

should i get rid of surplus seniors? is there anyting else i should be looking into?

If I'd return today than couple of things what I would do:

*Get rid of seniors. Most certainly they are untrained so transfer list them with 1 eur and if they dont sell, than just fire them.
*familiarise yourself with transfer market - how many certain players cost. Put some time in there.
*Order new youths(But it seems reasonable to order them on first day of new season)
*Set goals. Not only for new season but also some target for long term, midterm, short term. Comes handy when motivation goes missing :P Also add vision - somekind of dream or very long term goal.

This is how I prepare for new season:
Usually around 60-70 days into running season I start looking what changes I want(and need) to make in my team - right now I have U23 team, so I write down or create tactic to see who are overaged for next season U23. Than I write them down and try to estimate income from those sales and total finances what I have to spend on new players.

Write down positions where I need to buy new players(lets call them priority 1). Now I know how many players I need. I can now evaluate what kind of level player(s) I can buy!

Than I write down couple of players who are okay but who I'd rather replace if finances allow that.

New season - starts - search for player(s) on market who I want. Purchase them and now vacation starts for me from MZ. I purposly try not to visit managerzone more than 1-2 times per day because I want to rest from it. usually during summer season break I may even not log in a week or so! - with many seasons in the MZ now I have noticed that it helps to build motivation and it helps me to avoid exhaustion from MZ.

By rereading what I wrote it seems little bit "too much work" but with excel it works very quickly. Basically I instert couple of numbers and change season number and it it's done!

Definitely the best advice I've picked up on the forum. It sounds healthy and something I'll need pretty soon to avoid exhaustion. Thanks.

The only thing I'd add is get as many games into your players as possible. Regardless of results, they all count towards experience gained
