Enough is enough- Cup Overhaul

Finishing top of any group in an official cup and then being drawn against another team who also finished first in their group needs to stop! It’s not fair and not giving back to any of the manager who pay real money and support a game that isn’t in turn supporting us! Seeding either needs to be brought in like tennis to make sure the top teams don’t play each other till the final stages of cups or simply first in a group needs to play a team who came second in another group. Every group stage tournement in the world runs like that and not just football. Why did we not model the game on this principle in the first place. Managers have been calling for this change for years( not seasons, years!!) How we have still not make a change to this system is very alarming? Instead crew go and change Cup formats that didn’t need changing instead of listing to the loyal and paying managers who have asked for changes that will benefit the game, and especially on the International Stage too.Finishing top of any group in an official cup and then being drawn against another team who also finished first in their group needs to stop! They said they are doing a complete cup overhaull and they would change this (also) when that happens. It didn't yet happen so... I can understand your frustration, especially since even if you know you can't win an official cup, getting to play as many rounds possible means good money and the system, as iti is, denies that by placing strong teams on one side of the final stages tree and the nd placed teams on the other.They said they are doing a complete cup overhaull and they would change this (also) when that happens. Exactly, financially you are potentially out of pocket from not making the extra money from having a deeper run. Results really aren't a fair indication of performance but leaving everything to luck drawing a potentially easier opponent. A direct example of this is in our National Cup. Both Myself and Red Devils won our groups (current #1 and #2 team in the Australian Top League). We now meet in the first round of the knock out stage!? It's ridiculous how it currently works. This is even more frustrating coaching a minor national team when you pull off a major upset and beat China in the group stage and top the group (U21 Confederation Cup) to then be drawn against another team who won their group and are ranked 20+ places higher than China drew finishing second in the same group. It really is just crazy and needs to be changed ASAP.
