Who remembers the most expensive player in MZ History where all clubs that bought him made a loss (unless you're AJAX FC), Hector Sugar has decided that he's had enough and will retire at the fairly young age of 33. Are you sure he is retiring? To me it looks like his team prolonged his career. The only trophy Sugar won at club level, was the Ecuadorian national cup. That hardly qualifies as being a legend :P His skills though.. Sadly as most players of that quality, they end up playing for a "less than good" team. They stop being a player, and become a trophy. Kudos to Ajax for the most insane profit ever! :) Even today, you can buy a very good team for that amount of money.Are you sure he is retiring? To me it looks like his team prolonged his career.

Strange how some players, strikers in particular, just underperforms. You look at their skills and go "wow!". I'll go with the hidden skills theory, strikers is just where it's more noticeable because either you score goals or you don't.... keepers is another position like that, some keepers have butter fingers and others are like brick walls.

I was the guy who lost the 35M bid ;) Would have made a great addition to my then supreme U23 team. I had more bullets, but decided to save the money. People in the Argentinean forum were rooting for me to win the bidding war as I had a great U23 team and there were rumors that the Polish manager would fire Hector as a statement, which he did. Hector Sugar = fool's gold! Never quite the top player he claimed to be, just a crazy bid/transfers succession which only made him famous as a soap-opera star.Hector Sugar = fool's gold!
