U21 Confeds Cup

Badge image
i'm surprised no one's started a thread on this yet :P

anyway, so lets begin :

Round 2 matches done today.

had a torrid start in the first match ,with a straight red and a consequent 5-3 loss. back on track in the second match though.

apart from all the biggies, i find South Korea to be a really threatening side. their NC has gotten good results, given how active their country is. i wouldnt be very surprised if they manage to pull of an upset vs China.

as for today's games, i was stunned by the Peru vs Indonesia match. Indonesia wins it 3-1. now, who would've ever expected that ? :P

it'd be nice to hear other NCs' thoughts too on their respective campaigns :)

Was nice to get an upset vs China and back it up vs South Korea. They gave us a scare going 3-1 up, but we managed to sink a few late goals to take it out 5-3.
Given the way South Korea faded in the second half against us I can't see them outlasting China, but would be nice if they did.

We (Aus) have a good opportunity to progress through the group with 3 wins. Shame there is no seeding to reward a good performance.

Lots of do or die matches across the other groups to keep it exciting.

yeah, you did finally managed to break the Chinese code :P you've been drawing them so many times of late, and would always be unlucky to end up losing despite having the better stats. guess your players managed to hold their nerves this time around :P

for us, even a draw will do now. just hope to avoid the biggies in the Last 16 for as long as possible :P

This is first time I follow it little bit more than usually cuz I have 1 player who represents Argentina,
so go Argentina :P

Cool to see that our results have been noticed :D Even though the loss against Australia makes it difficult for us to advance, I'm very pleased with the performance of my "moneyball-team"! It's going to be close to mission impossible to cause an upset against China, but nothing would be sweeter ;)

When we get to the knockout-stages, I'm really looking forward to see how far both India and South Africa can go. Not the biggest nations (when it comes to MZ), but seems like they have something really exiting going on.

well, yeah you've done pretty well. and i'd say it would be kinda unfair to your team if u dont make it to the Last 16 :S but, given the rather tough opponents you've gotten, it might be inevitable that your team has to lose out on qualifying.

us in the Last 16 ? that is still far from reality lol :P in the past, Singapore would've seemed as easy opponents, but with the team we've got (i'm the only active manager in my country :P), i'd say it will be a 50-50 vs Singapore.

as for South Africa, given their current group, they too will need quite some results (apart from their own) going their way in order to qualify. Indonesia stunning Peru has done their chances some real good, but they'll have to hope they too dont falter vs the Indonesians in their fixture.

Round 3 is over, and i'm relieved :P

thankfully, we won 5-0 vs Singapore. the scoreline was too much in our favour, and a 2/3-0 would've seemed more fair to them.

Unfortunately, South Korea went down fighting against heavyweights China, and in their case too, the scoreline didn't really reflect the stats. but then, with the players that China has got, u cant really expect much :P:S but, hats off to them again for spirited performances throughout their time in the tournament.

another exciting group, Group 1. it's getting really tense there now :P South Africa and Indonesia seem to have caused some pretty nice upsets, and the Latin American heavyweights Peru are now staring at a shock Group Stage exit :S with Uruguay having all but sealed their place in the Last 16, it will be a 3-way contest for the 2nd position in this highly competitive group. the only thing i don't like about this group is we'll all have to wait until next month to finally know the Last 16 draw :P

around 10 more days until the Last 16 draw is out and things again get exciting ;)

wonderful results last night :D

the Kuwaitis have done all of us a great favour by knocking out the Chinese. the Chinese fully deserved to win though :P

we were unlucky to get so many cards again. just don't see the use of changing to 'Normal' pressing. ended up getting way more cards than 'Committed' ever got me :$

all in all, last night's were a wonderful set of results. looking forward to the next round.

time to consult an old friend of mine now for some tactical acumen :P

My player Ratan Ayala(Argentina) also progressed! Ayala played against Brazil and were lucky enough to beat them 1-0.

we hope this will be the Last Round for your player ! :P

China out, Brazil out...only the Arges remaining now. this is a Confed Cups of the underdogs :P

i have a feeling the Kangaroos are gonna make a serious and huge leap for this year's title :P

btw, how do i know which players (if any) have been suspended for the next NT match ? there is no 'suspensions' or any such page, and neither does the 'fix tactic' box notify me of anything.

so, did my player who got a red against Paraguay in the 91st min get to play the next match ? or no ? how do i know that ? i dont want the SIM 'automatically' removing him and replacing him and hence screwing up my whole tactic during the match, so i'd like to know beforehand if there's a way of knowing suspended NT players.

Unfortunately you have to keep tabs on suspensions manually! He is suspended for that match!

manually ? this is ridiculous bro ! lol i mean, i should atleast have someone (someone from Crew maybe) confirm it to that he is ACTUALLY suspended, or else i might be resting him for no reason !

it's time we made some serious changes to some of the NC stuff.

for one, please start notifying us about suspensions, and secondly, please 'show' the tactic which was used in previous matches (like it is for personal teams) so that we dont end up getting confused and wasting loads of time re-tallying tactics.

uh huh...DARN...yes, he is suspended..i see it there.

oh man.....what do i say...i find this brutal yet funny. to sum it up, we just lost our only 10 ball tackling defender (the best, ofc).

seems like we're off to a great start even before the real contest begins...LOL

Don't worry. Luckly you were given heads up. I didn't know this before this season U21 euros when we had similar situation but we had player who got two yellows in match and by checking manual which stated: "If he receives two yellow cards in one game, he will be sent off but will receive no further ban." so he should have been available..

I remember I was watching the game and I was like "what are you doing on pitch, you should be on bench"

tonight will be an interesting set of matches :) just 30 mins to go until Kick-Off.

Part 1's gone well for us. let's see what the SIM has in mind for us now :P

Re: U21 Confeds Cup

and the Indian U21 NT bows out of the U21 Confeds Cup, but with our heads held high and pride in how we played throughout.

we did manage to dominate the stats against a much better skilled Kuwait, but unfortunately, it was not to be. anyway, i was anyway never expecting a win tonight. kinda knew we'd do better stats-wise, but we didn't really have the players to beat thew Kuwaitis. have to accept that. good luck to all the remaining competitors.

Re: U21 Confeds Cup

there's just one good thing about tonight -

'For all the effort they put into the match, the U21 India players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense (edit - keeper, to be more precise...we'd beaten their defense right when we went wings against them :P). The match ended in a win for U21 Kuwait.'

for the first time probably, the SIM actually did (said) something right.
