Sooo, in my opinion, friendly games actually seem a very inconvenient and useless thing. I cannot make strong implications on other managers' habits, but for me, it's just a total burden done only because of the fact that it has an effect on form. First, I have to find some people to invite to play friendlies (sometimes they don't accept, so I have to search again and again). Then I have to change the tactics so that I don't play too many games with my main team and too few with the reserves. And I don't ever care about the results of these games. At first it seems - what's the big deal? But in truth, it is so usual to forget to book some friendlies or change tactics simply because of a lack of time, and it makes a huge difference on your results in leagues or cups if the form of players dips.
Okay, I understand that these games just force those who play to log on almost everyday, so it keeps players active and develops a habit of logging on daily (nice psychological trick, by the way :) ). But sometimes we do have times when we cannot log on for a week or more. And then the results suffer badly just because of lack of friendly games.
What shall I suggest? Of course, it is nice to have friendly games for those who want to play them and for the tours, but it shouldn't have any effect on form. Just allow people to choose if they want to play them or not.
