Completely irrelevant. if its anything like PowerSoccer, when you play someone in an official cup you get points if you beat them, and it varies depending on how good they are, and lose points if you lose.

Nobody actually uses it as a relevant guide of anything in MZ however.

Re: The math behind points?!

Well I disagree!!!! Even FIFA has its own ranking system...It is relevant to me.

+3 win
+1 draw
+0 lose

Damn, that's complicated! :O

Nobody knows how it works for sure, but it basically takes into account league games results, cups & friendly games. Keep in mind that it also takes in account all Uxx competitions, so the ranking doesn't reflect the strength of a senior team but the sum of all things instead.

Thanks a lot Darkline... That's a beginning of data on the subject that I am trying to gather.

There are a lot of variables in the calculations...only Crew knows all but are very discreet in revealing information regarding the calculations.

In addition to what was mentioned by darkline...the teams financial situation is taken into account...maybe even team form...maybe even participation in the game.

It would be nice if they could release their math behind the Rank... It is irrelevant for some people, but it would be cool to be on top Ranks and knowing the math behind it.

IMO, it also looks at friendlies games, at least at the first two of the week...

It's and Elo based system.

Ok, I was harsh when saying it is irrelevant... it is a good long-term indicator of good players, but only if you regularly check to see where you are at. The fact that I (div4.9) was higher than 10 out of 12 of the A-League teams about 2 months ago, however, indicates that it is flawed.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_system

An Elo rating system, put simply, calculates the difference in rank points between two players and classifies that difference into pre-set ranges. In PowerSoccer, if two players of equal rank points would play, then the winner would gain 15 of the other players rank points and the loser would lose the 15. A draw would result in no rank points being changed. As the difference increases (whereby one player has more points than the other), the points won by the lower team if they won would increase. So, for instance, if the higher team had 50 more points, then the lower team would win 16 points for the win, and the higher team would lose 16. Conversely, if the higher team won (as expected by statistics), then they would win 14 points. I am just using the 30 point combination as an example. These are predetermined and may be different in MZ, but thats how it works.

Nop, it is not, an ELO ranking was suggested a few times but never implemented, it'll be cool to have ELO rankings for Uxx & senior teams though.... maybe it's something that with all the recent changes, it could be implemented.

According to konstas MZ Bible. It works something like this.

Note that is is unofficial and cannot be verified.

A) Finances
B) Friendlies
C) User Activity
D) The League Games
E) Official Cups
F) Finishing Positioning in Official Cup

A) Finances

The team earns one (1) point for every 100,000 Euro has its capital. The maximum number of points can be earned by a team for is 50. So if a team has 99,000 Euro money then you will not get a point. If you have 100,000 will earn 1 point. You will also earn 1 point for; 105,000 or 180,000 Euro, etc. If you have 200,000 Euros will gain 2 points and so on. Teams have team money over 5,000,000 Euro earn all 50 points since 50 points is the maximum for the finances.
If the team is minus its finances, then loses their respective degrees. For example, a team at -99,000Euro loses no points. Although with -100,000Euro loses a point At team in debt of 450,000Euro then loses 4 points.

B) Friendly games

Teams get points only from their last 4 friendly games and only if they were played within the last 14 days. The each victory gives 10 points, while a draw and defeat gives 5 points. So a team that played such 5 friendly games in the last 14 days will only get points from their last 4 games. Although he won two of them, brought the third tie in the fourth and lost, then you get a total of 20 points (10 +10 +5 +5). If in the past 14 days have played less than 4 friendly (eg 3) then you get the corresponding points only were friendly (ie by 3 friendly in our example).

C) Activity
Each team earns points even down of the activity of the user. The team earns 40 points each week if the user logs in to their account at least once a week. If for an entire week the user does not log in at least once in their account, then the team does not get points for that week. The game takes into account only the last 8 weeks. Therefore the maximum number of points can assemble a team due to user activity is 320 (8 weeks x 40 points = 320).

D) League Games

Each team earns points from their league games to win. Also earning points and only participate in the championship. The base number of points is dependent on the league you are in and additional points are aware for wins. The game calculates only the last 8 games.

League Points Win Points
Top Series 600 95
Division 1 540 90
Division 2 480 85
Division 3 420 80
Division 4 360 75
Division 5 300 70
Division 6 240 65
Division 7 180 60
Division 8 120 55
Division 9 60 50
Division 10 0 45

So if a team plays in the fifth division and the last 8 games has 5 wins (the draws and defeats do not pay anything) then you will earn: 300 points for participating in the 5th category + 350 degrees because of the 5 victories ( 5 x 70 = 350), a total of 650 points.

E) Official Cups

Each game official cup which was played during the last 30 days (not counting the day itself we calculate grades) gives points. Each victory in the group stage has 30 points, while a draw or defeat offers 10 points. After the group stage, the knockout matches, winning each has 40 points, while a draw or defeat does not offer anything.

F) Position finished in official cups.

If a team finishes in a high position in an official Cup gets a big bonus points. Unfortunately due to lack of evidence has not been established how points are. About a leader must give direct about 200 points

If you want to see an ELO ranking for managerzone, there's one here though:

Unfortunately, last time it was updated was about a year ago :(
