SIM V2.40

Badge image
Can someone point out the major difference between current sim and the current beta planned to be released next season. Played a few matches to see, works a little different but still the same wing domination. Actually looks like short passing has gotten worse.

Tackle and then cross the ball, run and then cross again to the strikers in wings compared to tackle keep passing, lose ball on most occasions in short.
Who is then most likely to get more shots on target :)

Wings dominates because of the way it works. For short you have to pass through players and move ahead compared to wings where most of the players are bypassed by tackle and cross wide mechanism.

When Crew set out to develop a patched version of the current sim, they stated their intent was not to make wings unusable. However, they did reduce the effectiveness of AP which has essentially reduced the over all effectiveness of the wing tactic. With this reduction of AP effectiveness it is more difficult to get the ball to the wingers and crosses by wingers are less accurate.

Now, if a team has players highly skilled in AP from the infield, and highly skilled wingers, it is quiet possible for them to continue to be effective with the wing tactic. Average players, as in the current sim, will have a more difficult time being effective.

Short passing tactics have increased their effectiveness against wing tactics because of the increased effectiveness of defending with 3 men backlines, as well as the 4/5 men backlines. Also, due to the ability for players to be man marked and being more aggressive on tackles and interceptions.

I don't want to reveal everything but over time you will see the difference...plus changes will be made over time based on input by managers/GPAs. I have played in 23 Beta FLs to date...that is 690 matches in addition to countless matches from the Simulator Testing page. With my team using both short and wing tactics, the wins and losses are fairly even...that includes trying different pressing styles (committed and normal) and even some long passing.

I think it will be very interesting with the V2.40 for the new season in matching wits against opponents with best tactic and players. Eventually, a tactic will become dominating once the exploits/if any are exposed but I think that might take some time...not certain it will be wings, though.

Thanks for the information.

So far from my test wings and short seem to produce same number of shots except for one case but wings got me more goals and i have players predominantly with passing skill.
And passes made by my 6 a.pa winger land accurately at the strikers almost every time. Only difference between team with more a.pa is that the winger gets more supply.

Lost all my games against a stronger opponent except for 1 win where i played a short in an unconventional formation with more players up the field. Got double the number of shots.

Just a question, are the matches in testing section similar to instant matches?
Instant matches arent popular for reliability :)

Not sure about that...it could very well be since it is a challenge.

I would suggest you try entering one of the Beta FLs if you have spare tokens. This might give you a truer reading.

Why can't you reveal the changes... seems odd you could take advantage of them but normal users cant.

I am not taking advantage of anything. All users have the same opportunity to play in Beta FLs and Simulator Testing challenges as I do. The changes and fixes are spelled out on the Simulator Testing front page. The sullen behavior of the sims in different tactics and settings are to be learned/discovered by each manager.

Looking for a team of similar age and ability to my own to test out the sim before next season. My squad is 19-20 years old with quick raw talent across the park.

I like how they specifically say that if we don't try out the new SIM before it comes out next season, we will be at a disadvantage and will not succeed! And that although your first 2 BETA leagues will be refunded, you MUST have 5 power tokens on your account...

Guess next season will be an off season! :D

testing man to man mark, I see central defenders (following the opp strikers) a little bit forward respect side defenders, and that's dangerous because side defenders break the offside rule in the center, then, if I dont want man to man mark, I should choose "pasive" tactics, right? So, new "pasive" tactics is just like old "normal" tactics or I will have problems in being too soft in defense as well (like old "pasive")?? Maybe, it could be better if we had in tactics options a fourth option "to man mark" separately of pasive, normal or aggressive. What is your advise?? Thanks

In other words, I think when playing to man mark, all defenders should keep also the offside back line framework, e.g. I use to set the central defenders one step back of side defenders just to avoid the wing defenders can break the offside rule in front of my keeper! wich is in my opinion a suicide.

Striker still back passes when he has a clear shot on goal. 80 goals a season striker back passes, i lost the match 2-1 despite having 58% possession to the opponents 42% and also 12 shots to his 4 on target. So he had a 50% conversion rate and out of my 12 shots, my team only scored one. Where is the improvement on the sim again?

You're lucky, my team passes back a lot more now. Sometimes it's like watching a rugby match!
