Customise your own training camp
Send a scout into the transfer market for 5 weeks and have him send you reports on the the type of players you asked him to find
Pre-retirement player to coach conversion
Fired players become part of the general coaches available to hire (not a power token idea but an idea none the less)
If anyone else has some add them to the list

I like the idea of some kind of specialised Transfer Monitor. It would go a bit mental if you set something too generic, but I've love just to be alerted when some really top English player came on the market.

Player-Coach? Or Early Retirement?
Player-Coach is an interesting concept. How would you work it in relation to their own Training. Would be an interesting way of freeing up a training field space too.

They currently come back as ambassadors, so potentially may get a bit messy in the underlying system

Player-coach would be interesting, didn't think of it that way but it perks my curiosity. Has the same connotations as early retirement to coach conversion without the early retirement part.
Transfer monitor - it would work much like the the transfer search saving feature, where you plug in your pre-requirements, but with the added feature of the scout having the skill to interpret training reports themselves and judge whether or not the player would be a suitable purchase for the team
Customise a training camp for 5-10 tokens per player, it would be a steep charge. But then it wouldn't be required for every player and perhaps used more as an optional cover or choice depending on the circumstances and training camp options available. For instance currently if I'm stuck I just send a youth on YTC, but this would be a further option encompassing the seniors as well.
I've never been sold on the ambassador concept, my old players were terrible, so I've only kept 2 of them and they will be obselete in a 5-6 seasons time as older players retire into coaching, so they will be fired for a second time along with all the others that came back before. Free agency is pointless, so being able to turn a 4 speed, 10 shooting player into a coach seems at least a way to make them useful

I wouldn't even know how you would go about trying to develop the AI to be able to decide which ones to suggest and which ones not to. Though I'd expect it is way beyond the programmers who work here.

When you look at the 50 Cups, and the reason they had to be limited, you'll see that a steep charge does no deter some people one bit, who would get a massive advantage because of it.
Don't have to plan TC's at all and can just send to Speed/Stam/Tackling or Speed/Shooting/BC every single time without having to compromise or risk having players out of training.

I'd guess the argument not to do this would be that they don't really fit into the Coach search 'Class' system.
That said, if you fire a player at 19/20 with those skills, you'll get them back as an ambassador sooner or later and be able to convert to coach then which costs PT's, while your proposed method doesn't.

On the transfer monitor, the scout would be able to tell you things like
How many TC's a player has been on and how long they were for
The speed of a players training in relation to whether or not they have had a coach or not
How much similar players have sold for and balance it against how much you have to spend yourself to determine whether a player is in your price range
Maxing
All of those put together would allow them to make an informed decision about a player and whether or not to bid for them
