A true Christmas story!

The real meaning of Christmas is that baby named Jesus born in the manger in Bethlehem His mission was to die on the cross the reason He did that is because all have sinned and have broken God's law which is the 10 commandments and have greatly offended the Holy God of the Bible. The just punishment is death then Hell. That's not God's will. He loved you so much that He came to earth as a man in the person of Jesus Christ and suffered and died on the cross paying for the law you broke in His life's blood and on the third day He rose from the dead. Now He can legally dismiss your case. Merry Christmas to you too. The celebration in it's current form is, like most Christian festivals, a corruption of a pagan celebration, broadly of the winter solstice. Do we know the expression "Yuletide"? Of "Yule Logs"? Yule was a Germanic (i.e. German, Anglo-Saxon, Scandinavian, etc) celebration. This is why trees are such a central theme, they were very important to the Germanic tribes culture. That the "Father Christmas" figure was originally decked in green? The "Green Man" of old pagan lore? The similarity of the Wild Hunt, led by Woden/Odin to Santa on his sleigh? That he hears how good and bad all the people/children have been, sound similar to the ravens Hugin and Munin reporting to Woden/Odin about the events of the world? Then there's Saturnalia of course, Roman festival. What Christians did, very cleverly of course, is realize they couldn't outright "ban" or force people to entirely ignore their traditional festivals and celebrations, so instead they changed them (or corrupted them, depending on how inflammatory you want to be), imposing a "new meaning" that fitted with the Christian mythos. The amusing aspect is how they couldn't remove particular elements, never eradicating the fertility element (holly and the ivy, mistletoe), the trees (yule logs, christmas tree) and some central figure who was not explainable in any Christian mythos (Santa Claus, Father Christmas, whatever). I'd at least like to know the name of the cowardly admin who believes I committed a thought crime earlier tonight.
