Is it too early to call it and start rebuilding for next season? I'm climbing the table fairly well right now, but know that I face the strongest teams in the division again in the last quarter of the season.
Bought a couple younger players to strengthen my U23 squad and seem to have gotten myself back into financial straights. Amazing how quickly a couple million dollars can fly out of the coffers.
Only positive I see is once the U23 competitions are over I have quite a few players who can go to market (hopefully to get a fat check ). I'd do it now but I need to wait for a couple of young defenders to get out of camp or I completely decimate any limited chances I have of glory this season.

One thing about MZ each club and manager have their own perspective of what and when to plan for given situations. Myself, I am just treading water. Have made some purchases plus have some young potential that can be seeing some action on the starting 11 come next season. Losing only one to retirement at the end of this season but the end of next season I could be losing 4 or 5 players to retirement. The only plus right now is I do have a open foreign slot which should help in the hunt for good players at a reasonable price.

Anyone else amazed at the feeding frenzy for acf69's (now ACF-Retired) players tonight? He's looking at quite the bankroll when he does decide to return.

Didn't see the closing numbers, but I saw them all on the market earlier. He will come back financially set in the future, for sure.

Yeah, I was watching some of it. Particularly, the player I sold to him a couple weeks ago for 2.1 million that he resold for 3 million. Where were those bidders when I had him on the market???:O
-
Re: MZUSA Federation #13
By nick_shopenko - 04-12-2013 13:58
I was one of the bidders for that player, stopped bidding at around $2.7 million. Usually I don't buy expensive players but this one was just amazing, it's a shame he is going to play div.4 in China now. Dowo, I think when you sold him couple weeks ago he was still going for his 9th ball in Tackling and now he had already gained the 9th ball and was going for 10 so probably that's why was sold for more.

Has anyone else noticed that it appears two other teams besides ACF from D1 are giving up on MZ (Millvale and Mizoram FC)? While its nice to get an influx of domestic players in the transfer market its also disappointing to be losing 3 experienced managers at the same time. I am sure(hope) at least one will get the fire to come back and play again (I did).

Re: MZUSA Federation #13

nick...Your right. He had just got his 9th ball, not knowing if he was maxed. As it turn out ACF got a bonus because he showed unmaxed. Got that player on my shortlist so I can follow his progress thru the seasons.
soccr...Yes, it is always sad to see managers leave MZ but I do hope they get the itch in a few months and decide to rejoin the rest of us addicts.

North Conway has managed 2nd, 1st, and either 1st or 2nd in the U18, U21, and U23 National Cups this season. Heck, with the way his team is run he might do that every season but I just took the time to notice this season's results.

I have decided to seek the National Coach position. Even though there are many candidates with more experience than myself, I feel the time is right for some new blood in leading the National Team, that is, a different set of eyes and concepts in reviewing the existing team and seeking new players. The task of bringing a championship to the USA in a world setting is an insurmountable task in itself, and the odds are not always in favor of any one team for this accomplishment in one term. However, with the time, dedication and motivation I and my assistants (to be named later) will have, we hope to reduce those odds to be in our favor.
In other words, I solicit your support and votes for a New Era.

Honored to be TZUSA's Division 1 Manager of the Season! Also honored to debut in the MLS next season I am looking forward to the experience.
I would also like to announce that I am applying for the US National Coach next season. My club has a successful record that can be viewed in my team page. I feel I can bring a fresh approach that will turn our luck around for the future!

How should I be training my youths for them to be a part of the U21 NT in the future? Like, for what skills do we want in each position?

In my 3 years of developing youth I have yet been able to produce a player of U21 NT quality. Grant you proper training is a must. They need to go to camp every season for training in what ever position you are trying to train the player to play. The link of all the current training camps provided that darkline posted in another thread is a good one to study for the skills to train for each position.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/107898362/Archivos%20TZ/Football%20Training%20Camps.xlsx
The key I believe is to recognize which player is training at a high rate for the pertinent skills which has obtained 30 to 35 balls when he graduates from the youth academy with no critical maxings in the pertinent skills. By the time the player reaches 20 yrs. old, he should be near 45 balls, well rounded if possible. However, the curse of development is the early maxings of 5 to 7 balls that can kill a project you have been working on for several seasons.
Like I said earlier I have never produced one so all I have written may be hogwash but it is my opinion. Think about it!! If we consider 4 pertinent skills for a striker are speed, stamina, shooting, and ball control, then 8 in each skill is 40. And it's wise to have some PI and passing for a striker, maybe even some heading. Hope this gives you some ideas.Edited: 18-01-2014 23:43

Re: MZUSA Federation #13
By darkline - 19-01-2014 12:26
I usually get at least one player on the U21 NT almost every season, sometimes I contribute with multiple players, not sure if that'll be true this season since I only have 2 players that are 20 y/old, the rest are 19 y/old and they might be too young, one of the 20 y/olds is an 8 ball keep I use for Uxx competitions, the other one is this guy that's a bit underdeveloped as YTC selected Pi as one of the skills and I used to avoid players that get Pi since they used to max really early on speed (which doesn't seem to be true any longer), maybe with one more TC and depending on the quality of the Uxx available and maxings, he might be useful or not...
It's all on the numbers really, the more youths you have, the better chances of training some good ones and in a gist, the secret is to avoid wasting your time and resources on players that are simply never going to be good enough.
I use a combination of multiple approaches to maximize my chances of training some good youths, I don't mind sharing and giving out some pointers if anyone is interested.

Re: MZUSA Federation #13
By darkline - 20-01-2014 02:17
Well, this is how I try to maximize my chances of finding the best youth candidates to train.
1) Try to find maxings on critical skills as soon as possible, if you get a new youth with 3 on an important skill, put the player to train on that skill until he reaches a level you know it's ok for you. For me a deal breaker is a maxing on 7 speed, 6 stamina, 5 control...
2) When you send a youth to TC, try to use the TC to train those critical skills he has already high, you still want to find his maxings asap and if he maxes at an unacceptable level, take him out of TC, swap the player for a new youth and then send someone else.
3) Use the training graph or MZassistant and figure out how long a player takes to win a ball, some will take 12/13 days, the average is around 17/18 but some will be close to 20 days. Make absolutely sure you send the guys that train really fast to TC and the guys that train very slow (above average), I'd suggest to swap them.
4) This one is pretty obvious, but send your good youths and young seniors to TC every season until they turn around 21 y/old or even older.
5) Use the YTCs, since they modified them a few seasons ago, they seem to be spot on in most of the cases.
6) See if you can swap any of your current youths for a better youth, even if you're half way through the season, you'll see that you have some youths with 14/15 total balls and you might get offered a better youth in exchange or with more relevant skills, with the additional benefit that you get to scout the player and also use the youth conditioning camps to maybe get him to win 1 or 2 extra balls quickly.
And I think that's it, I had a few other tricks but they're not relevant anymore since they changed the youth training packs.

MZUSA tiered Friendly League update:
Second batch of A League invites out, only 2 spots left to fill.
First batch of B League invites out.
C League invites to go out later today. D League invites as well, hopefully.
Lots of snow events here lately, so not much time to get caught up on the rest of life and leisure.

A League full and up and running. B and C holding at 9 teams registered. D League at 6. More invites going out this weekend as well as reminder notes to those not yet signed up before spots are opened up to other managers.
If you played last season and have not yet gotten your invite, it is due to needing to see which league your spot will be in.

OK, I went through and made sure that an invite was sent out to every active member of the Federation for one of the tiered Friendly Leagues based on squad values. If you are invited to the D League remember that tier is sponsored and free to join.
Every tier now has more invites out than there are available slots - first come first served. If your team did not get an invite, I thought it was inactive based on match results. If you would like to join post here.
Right now 13 of 19 invites accepted to B League. C League 9 of 19 invites accepted. D League 11 of 20 invites accepted.

MZUSA tiered friendly leagues update: AKA flogging the dead horse:
A League up and running
B League 14 of 23 invites accepted
C League 10 of 21 invites accepted
D League 10 of 22 invites accepted
If you haven't gotten an invite and want to participate, write here to let us know. If you know anyone who would like an invite, post here to let us know. If you'd like to play at a lower level than your invite, post here to let us know. Right now I plan to offer invites to the level below to any team who doesn't get into their tier should pigs learn to fly and the tiers fill up. I apologize for the overwhelming theme of discouragement, but I wish everything was as smooth running as the A League. D League shouldn't be so hard to fill since it's free for the teams to join...
