Hyperbole... I'd like to see him stake something significant on it. His salary for a year goes to charity or something if they don't win :p
Personally I think it'll be Germany.

its easy isnt it , according to the Sun , which is always bang on, all they do , is stick all of the travelling nations into 2 star accomodation, with major distractions outside, such as the downtown shanty community, and plumbers turning up at 5 am, and if England get into the semi finals , all they do, is accuse the goalkeeper, of stealing a necklace, belonging to the local mayors wifes aunties cousin, and then they discover it was in Roys blazer top pocket, because he snatched it out of Rooneys hand, just as he was going into a club called ( --------- ------- --- --- ---- -- -- ) you are allowed to suggest the club he was going into,
i can guarentee that if i put the right feeder, and food, into my garden this winter, the blue tits will turn up, but i cant guarentee any Greenfinches , what the hell has happened to all the Greenfinches ..

Perhaps you aren't displaying your nuts prominently enough. If you can sort that out then I'm sure the green finches amongst others will come, and if you're very lucky you'll spot a pair of great tits.

Brazil has got a good squad, and they are playing on home soil. They have been beating top teams in Europe lately so that might count for them. But to tell you the truth. Germany and Spain got a more complete squad, i think they might have a better chance at winning it.

Spanish stars are old and tired, so they will not win ..........germans have not enough top stars to make difference on top games so they will not win ......Brasil has both Young and experimented stars and should win except if Italy defence once again prevent them from doing it !

I think Spain are weaker than in the recent past, questions over how much football Casillas is getting, Puyol's fitness, Pique's form, you've got Iniesta a bit unsettled, Torres thoroughly confirmed as spent (Ooh 5 in 5 for Spain in 2013! Yes but 4 were against Tahiti... is how most of his record breaks down, and it's nothing special anyway at basically 1 in 3). All Negredos international goals are against weak opposition, neither Llorente nor Soldado are in great form for their club sides, a fair bit's going to ride on David Villa staying fit and Diego Costa transferring club form to national team, methinks.
"germans have not enough top stars to make difference on top games" Funny how there can be such different opinions about the same teams and players. I think they're packed with genuine stars. Neuer and Weidenfeller are two of the best keepers in the world, Hummels and Mertesacker are very strong, Lahm's still one of the world's best wingbacks, for my money they've got a selection of midfielders at least equal to any other team out there, top-finishers like Gomez, Podolski and the evergreen Klose, and they've got plenty of players capable of magic, world stars in my view: Ozil, Schurrle, Muller, Goetze and Reus, at least.

I don't see Italy being a contender this World Cup. There defense isn't as good as it used to be. Germany has the stars. Look at Bayern Munich. Brazil has young stars but that can be both good and bad.

All the World Cup competitions played on American soil, had been won by American nations.... I don't think that'll change this next World Cup.

I agree, i think Brazil or Argentina has got a good chance of winning it. But they gotta deal with the likes of Germany, Spain, England, Holland, and mabey Italy to get that cup. Anyways. I think this world cup is the strongest one in a long time. So many good teams, so many superstars. I can't wait.

Those who are suppose to win will win, those who are suppose to lose will lose and those who are closest to home will win more.
I only see three teams as possible 'surprises'; Japan, Mexico and an African side, maybe Ghana or Ivory Coast.

I think Brazil, Germany, Spain and Holland have the best teams. Argentina, England and Belgium can give them some trouble and that's all.
Forget about Italy, Mexico, Japan and France. that's my opinion

1998 Quarter-Final
2002 Runners-up
2006 Third Place
2010 Third Place
If you look at their history since the start of the WC you will know they are one of the most successful world cup teams. Winning the world cup is one thing, making it to the quarter finals, semis and finals consistently is also worth mentioning.
Germany has been in the finals 15/17 times and has never failed to qualify for a world cup. While Brazil has been in the finals 14/19 times. Italy stands at 9/18.
Germany is not overrated.

Germany is overrated. everyone picks them to win these major tourneys and they talk about all their "depth" and they simply get ripped apart by Italy in the Euros.

Re: Scolari guarantees World Cup triumph.

Who is everyone? The only tournament since 1998 they were favored to 'win' was this last Euro Cup. Most of the time they are pick to do well and always a definate team to well. Really, only once have they disappointed. So I don't see the 'overrated' tag you give them. It is like you watched one match and from that match manufactored a whole history.

I fail to see how a team that got third in the 2010 World Cup, was in the final 4 in Euro 2012, were runners up in Euro 2008 and again third in the World Cup 2006, are overrated. They finished in the top 4 in the last 4 major tournaments. There is no way they are considered "over-rated".

Re: Scolari guarantees World Cup triumph.

German football as a whole is overrated. They've disappointed multiple times. 2006 world cup, 2008 Euros, 2010 world cup, 2012 euros. They are now considered one of the favorites to win major tourneys from here on out and they will fail.

Re: Scolari guarantees World Cup triumph.
By ka1990 - 23-11-2013 20:16
Its always a heart breaker to see Germany fall, in world cup 2006 at home, they fell to italy 2-0 at extra time, in 2002 in wc final, they fell to brazil, in 2010, the fell to Spain, it seems that who ever beats germany in the world cup ends up winning it all.

I don't see how a 2nd or 3rd place result can be seen as a failure. It is always a one-off match. Anyone can win on that given day, and either way, they still proved themselves better than over 150 other countries.

They dont match up well with certain teams. so it has less to do with it being a 1 off match

German football is overrated??? 2 German teams in the Champions league after taking apart two Spanish teams with the world's 2 best players. Plus their international record that has been explained above this post. Gerd Muller, Klose, Lothar Mattheus, Franz Beckenbauer and Jurgen Klinsmann didn't do too badly in their respective WC's and EC's did they now?

2006 they actually exceeded expectations. 2010 they again surprised many and made the top four only losing to the best team in the whole world at the time. 2012 Euros can be considered a bit of a disappointment.
This really sounds like a hatred or a person who lost a fair bit of money betting or someone who really doesn't know.
